Winter White | Major Coat Sale

We have had some majorly cold weather here, at least for Charleston standards.  That means it is still time to bust out the jackets. Good news is so many stores are having major sales on jackets, so it is a great time to buy!  The coat I am wearing is 65% off and I found it at Nordstrom.  It runs TTS. I ordered a 4 and a 6 to try and felt like the 4 fit best but honestly the fit was very similar.   I have always wanted a classic winter white coat and this one caught my eye, plus I couldn't beat the deal- it is now under $60!

This coat is the perfect shade of winter white.  It is warm too, I wore it to lunch last week and it kept me cozy.

Had to get Frances Moon trying so hard to walk!

 love my sweet girl.
The jacket I am wearing also comes in a beautiful purple color.  Order fast there are only a few sizes left!

Nordstrom has some killer deals on coats right now!

The colors of these two coats are just stunning!

Such a great time to buy coats to wear for the rest of this winter and then save for next year!
A few of my other favorites from the Nordstrom sale.

Thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post, all thoughts and outfit choices are my own.

Saturdays Deals!

Happy Saturday Friends! It is still cold here!  Hoping it warms up soon.

JCrew is still offering 40% off all sale, use code SALENEWS.  There are some amazing deals.  My Lem Lem tunic arrived that I ordered earlier this week and it has me so excited for our Caribbean vacation this summer.

I also picked up this sweater in the store.  It was $95 and I got it for $19!  It runs on the large side, I am wearing an XS. It is a boxy fit, but I like that paired with skinny jeans.  I am tempted to order the tan color as well, they are great basic sweaters.

My Ikat blouse is also on sale. It runs large as well, I am in a size 2.

for the boys Sterling loves these sweatpants!

I also always love the JCrew fleeces for Sterling.
These Pumas are also a favorite, we buy a new pair every season.

Nordstrom did a bunch of new markdowns too.

Thoughts For Friday

Happy Friday!  For some reason this week seemed especially long, maybe because it was the first week back to the grind.  It's restaurant week this week and we have a fun date night planned for Saturday, can't wait for some adult time.  Otherwise I plan to keep organizing and cleaning out our house, I always get inspired after the New Year. I will probably do a blog sale again soon so stay tuned.

Confession I wore this outfit 4 days in the past week.  When I find soemthing I like I wear it on repeat especially if I am seeing different people.

Also wanted to let ya'll know my favorite distressed jeans are on sale right now for 50%!
I have this same style but different color and wear them basically everyday.

I picked up a new piece for my bar area and I am loving it!  I had actually originally bought it for our den to place on the piece of furniture our TV used to sit on (we hung a new TV) but Matt insisted it blocked too much of his TV (men and their TV watching).  It found its way to the bar room and I am really loving it there (sterling loves it too).

I just finished reading The Light Between the Oceans and really loved it!!  It was so thought provoking and really hit my heart hard as a mother.  I highly recommend it- what should I read next?
Thinking about Cutting For Stone or the Language of Flowers....

I had the most amazing beet salad at the Obstinate Daughter this week.  I can't stop thinking about it.  I really want to try and recreate it.  It was whipped ricotta, beets, pistachios, picked Fresno chiles, and fresh grated horseradish.  The flavor combo was out of this world.

I downloaded Kristen Cavallari's app- I don't know if that makes me lame but I have a weird fascination with her/ girl crush and hey the app was free.  In one of her articles she discusses fermented foods and how good they are for you, so I bought some Kimchee to try.   It is kind of funky but good in a strange way.

After Christmas I ordered a few things from the Rebecca Taylor sale.  My shirt dress just arrived and I love it!  You can still take additional 30% off the sale thru this weekend.  It brings the dress to like $100.  I am wearing a size 4, pretty true to size if not on the large side.

Frances is finally starting to perk up and act like herself again after having RSV.  RSV is no joke.  I am thankful both kids seem to be on the mend.

I was so excited Monday because The Bachelor started back. My Mondays have been lacking without the Bachelor or Bachelorette to watch.  I think Chris is really cute, and his body ain't so shabby either.  Dying to know what he does to make all the women cry- I am thinking he probably gets freaky with someone the girls don't like.   Monday nights just got so much more entertaining.

Have a great weekend!!

Crushing on Diana Warner Jewelry

I have a new jewelry obsession in the way of Diana Warner.   Several of you asked about my cocktail ring over Christmas, and it was Diana Warner.  Her pieces are so unique and not crazy expensive.  Plus most are on sale right now for 25% off!

I wore this emerald ring all through the holidays.
The gold and emerald combo is currently unavailable but it does comes in an emerald and gunmetal combo.

If you like the gold setting (which I do) you can get my same ring with a golden stone and gold setting

The the other ring I chose was this cocktail ring.  I loved that it was so unique.  I wore it out to our New Years dinner.  And excuse my man hands- I swear they look like Madonna's hands,  big with veins sticking out.  I could obviously never be a hand model.

The ring I am wearing above also comes in Matte Silver version as well.

Diana Warner was just featured in 17 magazine too!

I really love all her pieces.  Here are a few of my other favorites!

and a close up of my two rings!  You can see just how stunning they are, such cool cocktail rings (ignore the man hands again).
You can check out the whole Diana Warner site HERE.

Big thanks to Diana Warner for sponsoring this post.  All thoughts opinions and jewelry choices are my own, always.

The Perfect Nicoise Salad + Wino Wednesday

I thought it was only fitting that my first recipe of the New Year be a healthy one. I love a Nicoise salad, it is one of my favorite things to order when we are out if it is on the menu.  I decided to recreate one at home and it was so tasty.  The best part is the leftovers save so well.  The key is keeping everything separate.  If you mix it all together with the dressing it all gets soggy.  I like to make a big family style platter,  that way everyone can serve as they like.  Matt likes more potatoes and I like more green beans and olives so we both can serve accordingly.  The beans, eggs, and potatoes can be cooked ahead to save you time.  I do recommend splurging for some good tuna or you could even do fresh, which would be awesome.  I bought the Tonnino kind in a glass jar with olive oil and it was so much better than the canned version.  I also picked up my olives from the olive bar, not jarred ones, they have much more flavor.
Enjoy!

|| N I C O I S E   S A L A D ||

- 1 head Romaine chopped
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes sliced n hlaf
- 3 hard boiled eggs sliced
- 1/2 pound baby potatoes
- fresh olives
- haricort verts
- Tuna in olive oil ( I recommend the jarred kind called Tonnino)

 DRESSING
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- juice of one lemon
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- salt and pepper

Heat a pot of boiling salted water and add Haricot verts.  Cook 4-5 minutes and then immediately remove and place in ice bath to stop cooking process.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Toss baby potatoes with olive oil and salt and pepper.  Place on baking sheet and bake about 20 minutes until fork tender.

Whisk together all ingredients for dressing.

Layer all on a platter with dressing in a bowl.  Serve on plates and drizzle with dressing.  I found this was best room temperature or slightly cool.

My friend Amanda asked me to participate in Wino Wednesday and of course I was thrilled and happy to share some of my favorite wine!   I love wine and the older I have gotten the more I have come to appreciate good wine.

Since it has been chilly here I have been in a red wine mood.  This red wine came in my monthly wine box from Wine Awesomeness and I have been hooked ever since.

If you are not a remember of a wine club, I highly recommend signing up for one.  It is a great way to try new wines and have them delivered to your door!  You can sign up and get your first month free HERE .
The Rioja is full bodied but not overpowering at all.  It is super smooth and oh so good.

The notes on the Wine Awesomeness page describe the flavors well

"Bright red fruit in the form of red cherry, red currant and pomegranate; dill, vanilla, dried roses, and sexiness.  Medium-bodied and silky, there's a sumptuousness to this wine that keeps you going back for more. "

This red wine is a winner and only $15!
