Mommy Confessions

Happy Friday Friends. Not going to lie this has been a long week with school being out three days. I know you people up North deal with snow all the time but Charleston shuts down over it.  I love being a mom so much but dang, the days can be really long sometimes especially when you can't leave your house.  Thank goodness we have a wedding this weekend so I get two nights out in a row!  That is unheard of and never happens.  I am ready to get dressed up and be wined and dined:)

Since I have been at my wits end lately I thought it would be fun to do some Mommy Confessions.  Now don't leave me alone feeling like the worst mom ever please leave a comment and tell me your confessions.  TGIF Friends.

1) I have not washed my hair in 4 days- yesterday morning Sterling actually told me I smelled.   Don't worry it is getting washed before the Rehearsal Dinner Tonight:)

2) I swore I would never ever let Sterling watch Spongebob and now it is all he watches- it guarantees me 30 minutes of silence which is pure bliss.

3) Sterling ate 3 lunchables yesterday one for breakfast and two for lunch. 3 lunchables how gross is that??

4) Whoever said that nursing burns calories and makes you drop the baby weight fast lied.   I am nursing round the clock and my weight ain't moving.  I actually gained two pounds from all the junk I ate during the snow days.

5) The past two days I started happy hour before 5.  Had to, is it sad having both kids at home leads me to want a glass of wine?  Case and point a little half glass while cooking.  4:00 is the new 5:00 for moms.

6) I have not exercised once since I had Frances and I was cleared too almost 4 weeks ago.  Every week I am like is it, then I make up excuses not.   I feel gross and want to workout but just cant find the time.

7) Yesterday at the bank our banker told Sterling "please be nice to your mommy and listen to her" because he was acting obnoxious.   I fear I have that kid who won't behave or listen to me in public.  You know the one where you look at the mom and feel both sorry for her and disgusted she cant get her kid to listen to her.

8) I have started making Sterling shower with me or Matt just so I don't have to do bath time.   I dread bath time especially because Sterling still cries every time we wash his hair.  He is getting ready to be 4 and cries over water in his eyes.

9)  I don't watch TV at night anymore.  I can't stand the noise.  Sterling talks all the time.  Seriously he is never quiet so now at night I need pure silence- I do make an exception for The Bachelor.

10)  Girl diapers are way harder to clean than boys.  I must use at least 10 wipes every time I change Frances trying to get her clean.

But at the end of the day long or not,  I sure do love these two and love being their mom.

and because I thought this was too true and too funny not to share.

NDM Style : Stripes + Bling

One of my favorite things about other people's blogs is seeing how they style their outfits.  I love outfit posts and seeing how people mix and match things from their own closet.   I also like seeing how clothes look and fit on real people.   My goal for my blog this new year is to do more of that and showcase my outfits not just with selfies.  I want to start a new series called NDM Style where I feature an outfit I have worn recently.  I may not do this every week but hope to at least every other week.

I had to get Matt on board to be my photographer- although my next door neighbor is a legit photographer who I need to get to help me because he probably won't huff and puff and say are we done yet like the hubs??   But Matt obliged me and did a pretty good job doing some fashion photos- lawyer by day blog photographer by night might be his new calling.

This is one of my go-to outfits. You know I rave about Vince all the time,  it is honestly one of my top five favorite lines.  The shirts, blouses, and sweaters are always a perfect loose casual fit.  This sweater is no exception and lucky for you girls it is on sale right now almost 50% off.  I always love stripes,  they are so classic.  I plan to wear this sweater into the spring paired with white jeans or jean shorts.  I am wearing a size small.  Vince runs true to size or on the larger side sometimes.
also available in v-neck version or white + black stripes

It is so soft and such a great fit.   Had to snap one selfie to give you an idea of length.

I am wearing the Rag and Bone Newbury Booties in gray and love them!  I also have them in dark brown and black. They seriously are my most favorite booties and comfortable too.  I can wear them all day with no pain!
They run pretty true to size.  I am usually a 9 or 9.5 and have a size 9.5.  So order a half size up if you aren't sure because you need to allow room for socks.

also here and here (I really love the camel color too)

The jeans are the 7 for All Mankind "The Skinny".  They have been my go-to post pregnancy jeans.  They sit higher up and suck everything plus they have stretch to them.  They are on sale right now and I am so considering buying another pair.  I have had mine since before Sterling was born so it may be time for a new pair.  and they do not come with a hole in them.  I took a tumble a few years ago at a Bachelorette party where I may have been over served and ripped the jeans but I just keep rocking them:)

I added my favorite Loren Hope necklace to give the outfit some jazz.  It goes with everything.  I toss it on for day to day wear and for night time too.  Her jewelry is so well made, always a great choice.

Before I headed out I threw on my Vince Leather Jacket to complete the look.  The jacket is totally an investment piece but worth every penny.  It is hands down my favorite jacket.  I wear it daily even over workout clothes.
Currently it is onsale in the olive color.

Mozzarella Stuffed Chicken Meatballs

I think this may have been my most popular instagram recipe to date.  Ask and you shall receive my friends.  This recipe was off the charts good.  We all loved these meatballs.  What is not to love about any meatball stuffed with fresh mozzarella?   They are made with ground chicken so they are fairly healthy as far as meatballs go.  Easy to make ahead too. I assembled mine and then just kept them in the fridge until time to cook.  Buy your favorite marinara sauce (I love Raos) and you are set!
Enjoy!

recipe adapted via

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • bocconcini mozzarella balls
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 jar tomato sauce
  • 10 basil leaves, cut into a chiffonade

Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken, parmesan, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper, oregano, parsley and red pepper flakes. Carefully combine everything with your hands until the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  2. Form the ground chicken mixture into small meatballs, each the size of a golf ball.
  3. Insert a small bocconcini ball in the center of each meatball, taking care to reform the meatball around the cheese once it’s been inserted. The mozzarella should be completely hidden from sight.
  4. Dredge each meatball in the flour to lightly coat it and gently tap off any excess flour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a large heavy bottom skillet over medium high heat. Once the oil is hot, add half of the meatballs and sauté for a 3-4 minutes, turning every so often to brown the outside.
  7. Once the meatballs are browned, remove them from the oil and repeat the process with the remaining meatballs.
  8. Once all meatballs are browned, add the tomato sauce to the skillet and place the browned meatballs on top of the sauce.
  9. Transfer the skillet, meatballs and all, into the oven and let the meatballs continue to bake for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  10. Remove the skillet from the oven and dusting with salt, pepper, freshly chopped basil and extra bocconcini if desired. Serve immediately.

Obsessions

I am loving the Zella line at Nordstorm. These pants are perfection in a workout pant.

also really digging this jacket.  The new year always makes me want new workout clothes to inspire me to workout.  But who am I kidding, I wear these clothes even on days I am not working out!

This is such a great tee shirt dress.  I love the pattern!  I would wear this all Summer with flip-flops. The perfect easy Summer Dress.

I am already dreaming of Summer and days spent at the pool.  Would love this tote for all the kids stuff and mine.  Just makes me happy looking at it!

I am smitten with these new bracelets from David Yurman.  They would make a great Valentines gift- hint hint Matt.  They come in 6 different stone choices.  You get two bracelets and they really are a good price for David Yurman.  They would look great mixed in with other bracelets or alone.

I swear baby Gap has been killing it with their Spring line, so far I want everything.  This is quite possibly the cutest and most stylish bathing suit ever.  Adore it.

Really loving Vince's shoe line for Spring.  These are some of my favorites.  They are top on my Spring wishlist. I think they would look great with jeans, dresses, and shorts!

I own this dress and it is one of the best and most versatile dresses in my closet.  I highly recommend it plus it is great price now on Neiman Marcus Last Call.  Since it is fitted I ordered a size up in it, I have a size 6.  It comes in black too Here

I desperately need a new pair of sunglasses.  Matt says my current pair look like Kim Kardashian and trust me that is not a compliment.  I lost my last pair of Ray Bans but they truly were my favorite so I want another pair.  Love the blue mirrored ones.  Hope to get them for my Birthday coming up!

Scenes From Our Weekend

Monday again. We have our third hearing doctor appointment this morning. Apparently one of Frances' ears is still clogged with ear wax and fluids from birth, they are hoping it will clear on its own but it doesn't seem to be. Has anyone had this happen before?  Her one ear passed the test fine but we are waiting for this one to clear out in order to re-test.  Wish us luck. The mom in me worries but I am hopeful it will all be ok.

This weekend was pretty low key.

Friday night we stayed in and did abslutely nothing.  We were going to order pizza but then got lazy and just cooked a frozen one.  But it was nice just hanging with the kids.

We spent some time outdoors even though it is still cold here- with a chance of snow Tuesday and Wednesday!  I swear this has been the coldest month I have lived in Charleston!

I love this picture that Sterling took of me and Matt.  He did a pretty good job minus cutting off our heads:)

Several of you asked about my leggings on Instagram when I posted this pic they are almost identical to these Zella Live In Eclipse Dye Leggings.

http://rstyle.me/~1mQl6

They also come in this capri version for Spring.

Saturday morning we had brunch at The Glass Onion which is one of our favorite spots here.  I had a pimento cheese omelet with their garden salad.  I dream about their garden salad it is good  It is Bibb lettuce with homemade vinaigrette, fresh blue cheese, and pickled veggies.  Divine I tell you.

We also had the share the fries with Hollandaise.  Pure gluttony on a plate!

Saturday night we went to Carson's Birthday at Chuckie Cheese.  The kids had a blast but let me tell you it was my worst nightmare,  it was so crowded and that gives me major anxiety with the kids.  Thank goodness they wisely serve booze.  I had a beer and I am not even a beer drinker but the wine scared me - you know Chuckie Cheese doesn't have good wine.  Poor Frances was not impressed with Chuckie Cheese.

I did a little home styling this weekend.  I have been in the mood to refresh things up and switch things around, I will show more pictures soon when I do a post on my house list for 2014.

Love watching these two together.  How funny is the stank eye Frances is giving Sterling.  She clearly did not like me letting him hold her.

Have a great start to your week!
