Thoughts For Friday

TGIF Friends!  We have a fairly low key weekend with no real plans and I am not gonna lie I am excited about that!

We booked our place in St Maarten a few weeks ago and we finally booked our plane tickets this week so I am pumped.  It feels real now and it is only 3 months away!!  Of course I am already planning outfits and this Mara Hoffman dress is sure to come with me!  It runs on the large side, so size down.  I got an XS.  It also comes in a gorgeous blue color as well.

Frances Moon's Pink Chicken for Target dresses came in the mail and they are even cuter in person.  I love this watermelon one!  Right now clothing is buy one get one 50% off at Target too!

I am going to attempt to make these layered rice krispie treats with the kids this weekend.  They look so cute and the recipe claims they are easy:)  They are made with melted peeps! Recipe Via.

I have a few trips coming up this year and I am so excited about my new Barrington Gifts travel items.   I have a few of their larger totes that I love.  They have so many fun patterns for the Spring.  Although warning I spent way too long playing with patterns and monogram colors.  It is so hard to decide!

If you are looking for a great everyday lip color I am loving the Beauty Counter Lip Sheer in Twig and Rose.  Twig is the perfect nude and Rose gives you the perfect light hint of pink.  I think I am going to try the Coral next.

I have been into drinking this detox tea.  I really like the flavor and it is caffeine free.  It is supposed to be cleansing for your liver too:)  I drink it a few nights a week before bed.

I took the kids to see Zootopia last weekend and I loved it.  Although I think I liked it more than they did.  It was such a good movie with a great story line and moral.  I highly recommend it.

Sterling made the most elaborate trap for a Leprechaun this week.  I just love how big his imagination is.   I love the sign he made that says "gold in there" to try and lure him in:)

A few of my favorite Equipment pieces from this Spring were just marked down and are on sale right now.

Wearing size Small.

Wearing size mall.

Wearing size XS.

Have a great weekend. I will be back tomorrow with some awesome weekend deals!

A few weeks ago the girls at Beckett Boutique asked me if I wanted to be featured in their Spring Lookbook.  I was beyond flattered as they are one of my favorite boutiques in town.  They opened a little less than a year ago and they have quickly become my go-to for building my closet with timeless pieces.   One of the owners went to law school with Matt- such a small world!

The interior of the store is just as gorgeous as the clothes.
They are located at 409 King Street, suite 101.
If you follow their instagram account @beckettboutique you can see all the new arrivals and special promotions.

They have such a fabulous selection of many of my favorite designers like Elizabeth and James, Rebecca Minkoff, Holst + Lee, McGuire Denim and Victoria + Woods.

They have an amazing blog which I love that features not just fashion, but food and lifestyle too!  They also offer the Beckett Box service.  I know so many stores are starting to offer these box services which makes shopping super easy.  What Beckett Boutique does that is a little different from other stores is they send you a lookbook each month, so you can see items from the store already styled.  Then you can choose what you want in your box!  Super easy!  If you want to check out their blog and box service you can do that Here.

Below are a few pictures from the photo shoot.  All these items are available for Spring right now in the store.  I had so much fun playing model for the morning, and of course I wanted to keep everything I tried on!

White Bean + Arugula Salad | Favorite Dress Restocked

Now that the weather is warmer here it has me craving light and fresh meals.  You know I love a salad and this one is my new favorite.  Not only is it gorgeous to look at with so many colors but it is delicious too (and super healthy) !    I have been eating this for my lunch but if you wanted to serve this as a main meal it would be awesome served with grilled chicken or shrimp.  If you decide to make this ahead of time I would wait til the last minute to add in the arugula so it doesn't get too wilted.  This is best served at room temperature.  Enjoy!

|| W H I T E   B E A N  + A R U G U L A  S A L A D ||

- 2 cans cannellini beans drained and rinsed
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes quartered
- 2 carrots sliced
- 1 red bell pepper diced
1/2 small red onion diced
- 1/2 cup chopped kalamata olives
- 1-2 cups baby arugula
- fresh basil chopped thinly
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
- salt and pepper to taste

Chop all ingredients and place in a large bowl and toss together.  Whisk the olive oil, lemon juice, and sherry vinegar together and season with salt and pepper.  Pour over salad.  This is best served at room temperature.

I wore my new fringe shift dress last night to a Fashion week event and I wanted to share it is back in stock in most sizes.
Sizing wise I went up a size.  I am normally a 4 but the 4 was snug in my hips so I went up to a 6 and it fits perfectly.  I have already worn this dress 2 times this week.  I dressed it up with wedges last night but then I also wore it with flats during the day.  Super versatile.

A close up view of the fringe detail and material.  Also these Le Specs sunglasses are the best and under $70.

We attended a party last night for Lilly Pulitzer and it was so fun!    The party was at The Grand Bohemian Hotel, and the rooftop area was awesome.

Such a cool spot to hang out and have a drink over looking the city.

Style Files Vol 6 | All About The Kids Our Spring Favorites

Today is all about the little ones!   They are definitely the cutest models:)
I have so much fun shopping for Sterling and Frances Moon and some of the Spring kid's stuff is so cute right now.

I mean how adorable is this pink dress??  It would be a perfect Easter dress!  It also comes in a bright blue/yellow color, that I love! With Frances I always size up in dresses so she can wear them for a longer amount of time.  Many of the girl clothes are more expensive than the boys, so I want to make sure she can wear them for awhile.  Once her dresses get too short, we pair them with leggings as top for extra wear.
She is wearing a 3T in this dress and it is a touch long on her now but I am hoping she can wear this for the next year or two.

I love the details on the top of the dress and arms.
Frances loves hair bows and headbands so I knew she would love this flower headband.  The nice part is it actually stays on in place.  You can also wear it across your head as a crown too.

These salt water sandals are our favorites.  I also ordered these a little bigger so she would have room all Summer.  I love the hot pink, but they also come in several other colors.
Sterling of course picked out his outfit.  I don't try to shop for him anymore without his approval.  He is still shark obsessed, so the tee was definite and he always loves a hoodie.  He especially liked the fact this one was lined with faux fur.

Sterling has been wearing these Pumas since he was 2!  They are the best, we buy a new pair every year.  I love that they velcro and are easy to put on by himself.

I had a reader request to share some of my favorite shoes for Frances and Sterling.

These shoes are the ones we buy time and time again every year.  They are staples if you will. I only have a few requirements when buying shoes for the kids:
1) They are easy to get on.  There is nothing worse than shoes that take forever to lace up or get on.
2) They are relatively cute.  Sterling and Frances are pretty opinionated these days so I try and steer them towards shoes that are not too tacky.
3) They are comfortable.  I want them to be comfortable for the kids to wear and play in all day.

kids shoes

Nordstrom is usually my go to for shoes.  Since we don't have a department store in Charleston, it is so easy to order online.

Toms- I like Toms for both the boys and the girls and they always have fun new patterns.  I love the gingham for the little girls and the chambray for the boys.

Natives- these are like crocs but way cuter.  They wear these all year long here in Charleston but they are especially great in the Summer.  If they get dirty, wet, or sand in them they are easy to wash off.

Hunter Rain Boots- I love the gloss kind for the Frances and the matte for Sterling.   My kids love to wear these even when it is not raining.

Pumas- these are my favorite sneakers for the boys.  I love the look and the fact that they are velcro and easy to get on and off.

Salt Water Sandals- these are my favorite sandals for the girls, they are simple and sweet.  They come in about 7 different color options too.

Thanks to Nordstrom for partnering on this post!

Scenes From Our Weekend

I have such a love hate relationship with daylight savings time.  I love the extra hour at night but man I hate getting up while it is still dark out!  This weekend we were blessed with gorgeous weather again.  I have to say it makes me excited for Summer and the extra time outdoors.

Friday while the kids were in school, I hit up the outlets.  I never really find anything for myself there but I wanted to get the kids some pjs, underwear and socks.  Nothing too exciting.  Since I was already in North Charleston we decided to eat lunch at Basico.  I had only been here once before.  I ordered the Basico bowl with half chorizo half chicken and it was so delicious!

Friday night we did a sleepover with my friend Ashley and her girls.  We like to do this every few months.  Us ladies stay up and chat and the kids have so much fun!
I am wearing Rebecca Taylor Blouse,  it is sold out but this style is the same.
We enjoyed dirty martinis and ordered pizza and the kid's watched Billy Madison.  Fun for everyone:)

Saturday morning we strolled the marina.  Sterling always loves looking at the boats.
and notice he and Effie insisted on trading shoes:)

Then we went to Park Cafe for breakfast. I dream about their avocado and creamy kale toast.
I love this picture of Sterling.  He can never have enough jelly.

Saturday afternoon the kids insisted they wanted to put on their bathing suits and get in the water.  There is a park near our house that has small beach area the kids love.  I put my feet in the water and it was COLD but it clearly didn't phase them!
I am usually not one for matching outfits but I could not resist these leaf print swimsuits from The Beaufort Bonnet Company.

The kids said they wanted tacos for dinner that night so we switched things up from our usual and made fried flounder tacos with pineapple jalapeño relish. They were off the hook good.

Favorite outfit over the weekend.
The dress runs on the large side, I have an XS.
Sunday on the way to church I snapped this picture of the kids.  Pretty much sums up their personalities.
I wore this gorgeous Hyla Dewitt Necklace to church. I have fun post coming next week featuring her jewelry and a discount code! The dress I am wearing is old but this one is very similar.
Sunday night we went to the Yacht Club for Happy Hour.  We were happy to have the extra hour of light!

Sterling was so excited about the dead fish bones he found and we promptly made him was his hands!  He did manage to find all these shark's teeth which he was super pumped about.  and it slightly terrified me- haha!

Have an awesome week!
