Scenes From Our Weekend+ Kid and Baby Sale Favorites

Good Morning! This is our first whole week this Summer that we are home with no camps or real plans this week.  I am excited for some downtown with the kids.  On our to-do list I hope to finally get back to the gym after hurting my back and I am planning to take the kids to swim in the pineapple fountain downtown!

We had a really nice weekend, filled with lots of fun with friends.
Friday morning I had brunch some friends at Park Cafe.

That evening we headed to the yacht club with my good friend Ashley and her family.  We ordered pizza and let the kids play.   It makes me happy how much my kids love hanging out with her 4 kids.  They are all so sweet together.
We got to watch a storm pass by.  The kids tried to find shark's teeth but no luck this time.

Saturday morning we had 2 birthday parties.  One for my nephew and the other for my good friend Eliza's son.
I wore this Trina Turk suit to my nephew's pool party that I ordered from the Nordstrom sale.  It is sold out on but may be restocked, I will definitely let you all know if it is - it is still available in the bikini and cover-up in the same pattern.
I was able to find the suit online in a different color option.  I can't say enough great things about the fit,  the pattern, and style.  They all make for a very flattering fit.  For those curious about sizing I am wearing a size 6.

Our next Birthday party was for my friend Eliza's son Ellis who turned one.   The party was at The Yacht Club and it was a sailing party.  They took the kids out for boat rides in the harbor.  Sterling had so much fun!
I can't stop laughing at this picture Matt snapped.  We told Frances no fire and she went straight for the lighter.  She is definitely gonna be my rebellious child.
My sweet friend Eliza, who the kids adore.

Saturday night we headed over to our neighbor's house to swim.  I brought along this appetizer spread.  Several of you asked where I found the watermelon radishes- I found them at Harris Teeter,  they were in the section near the kale and cabbages.  I just love their beautiful pink color and they are so tasty.

Sunday it rained all day so were we pretty lazy.  We had a family trip to the grocery trip.  Sterling
and Frances loved these stacked chairs.

Then we had our neighbors over for dinner.  Matt picked up some snapper from our local seafood market and I was in charge of sides.  I made a kale/arugula salad with watermelon radishes +fresh Parmesan and Baked Mexican corn.  You make the corn the same you would regular Mexican corn you just cut the kernels off and bake it.  I boiled the corn about 20 minutes, then cut the kernels, then layered in a dish with salt+ pepper, mayo + sririacha, and topped with crumbled queso fresco.  Then bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
I wore two items I ordered from the Anniversary sale and love.
I am wearing a size small in the tank, it has the cutest split back which I love.  The jeans run TTS.

Several of you have asked me for wine recs and I am working on a post soon to come with my favorite Summer wines.  This Whispering Angel is a great rose.  It is light and not too sweet.  I typically buy it at World Market because if you are a member the price is way cheaper than at the grocery store.

I had a little time to browse the kid's section of the Anniversary sale and wanted to share some of what I think are the best buys.  This is when I usually buy Sterling and Frances Moon Patagonia or North Face Jackets for the Fall because they are on sale.  I divided my favorites up by category: Girls, Boys and Baby.  Just scroll through to see the items and click on them to shop.
BABY
This is the best baby blanket.  It is so soft!  Makes such a great gift.

BOYS

GIRLS
I chose this and this for Frances Moon.

Weekend Style | Swim on Sale

Happy Weekend!
I know the majority of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is Fall but this year there are quite a few awesome Summer items.  This is great because they are pieces you can actually wear and enjoy right now.

We are off to pool party this morning and I am excited because my bathing suit I ordered from the Nordstrom sale arrived last night so I can wear it.  I will be wearing this suit- sizes are going fast!  I ordered a 6 for sizing reference.

My one piece also comes in a bikini version.  I love the black and white print.

I almost ordered this black suit but went with the one above.  This black suit is killer though.  The back is gorgeous.  I always love a black suit because they are so flattering.

I mentioned this suit Thursday but I was so excited to see it was part of the sale.  I bought it after I had Sterling and needed a one piece and 6 years later I am still loving it.  It is super flattering on and has padding to make your bust area look perky.
Here I am wearing it last year with Frances.

My mom has this cover-up in blue and it is so cute on!
I also love this white cover-up.
I love the bright colors in this cover-up.
This cute cover-up dress is only $36.  I like the tassel ties and it looks super comfortable.  It also comes in red.

These sunglasses are my top pick.  I have one pair and I actually just ordered the pink color as well.  I am wearing the blue mirrored pair below and my cover-up is also 40% off.

If you need sunscreen, I can't say enough great things about Supergoop.  It is all we use these days.  It has low alcohol content so it doesn't burn the kids at all.  This is a great deal it is like you get one bottle for free.

My top picks from for Swim and Sunglasses from the sale.

and how fun is this float??  Sterling and Frances really want me to order it:)

Have an awesome Saturday

Thoughts For Friday + Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top Shoe Picks

TGIF Friends.  I hope everyone has had a great week so far, I for one am ready for the weekend!  We are going to the Yacht Club tonight with some friends and then we have two birthday parties tomorrow.

This little lady is growing up so fast, I wish time would slow down just a bit.

I stopped by this week to visit my friend Kerry Steele.  She just moved to Charleston and has a new studio at Redux.  She painted a big painting for over our couch and I can't wait to share it next week.  I am in love with all her paintings.

Since the kids were both in camp this week, I got to do a little solo shopping by myself downtown which never happens.  I had some great luck at Anthropologie.  This dress is hands down amazing.   It is so soft, the material is awesome.  They only had the red color in the store but online they have black, green, and cream.  I am wearing a size small.   I figure I can wear this into the fall with a cute jacket and booties.
I loved this adorable dress, it was sold out but now back in stock online with a ship date of next week.  I am in an XS for sizing reference.

We saw the movie Secret Life of Pets last weekend and now Sterling and Frances are obsessed with Gidget.   That's Gidget trying to sip my Whispering Angel rose:)  The movie was really cute, I think I enjoyed it as much as they did.

Matt and I finally finished Mad Men and I have to say I am so sad it is over.  It is the first show we have loved as much as Breaking Bad.  I looked forward to watching it every night after we got the kids in bed.  I kind of feel a void in my life without Don Draper.  We just started back on Bloodline though, everyone keeps saying the second season is better.

I made the most delicious Summer dinner this week.  Roasted Salmon served over pureed butterbeans with whole wheat couscous and an arugula salad with watermelon radishes.  I will share the recipe next week if ya'll are interested.

I ordered a few things from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yesterday including these Running shoes snd booties.   I had to time to scroll through all the shoes yesterday and these are my top picks from the sale!  Most of these brands will sell out so best to shop early.

SHOES

For the price these shoes are a top pick.  They come in 4 colors and are only $59.  I love the nude and brown colors.
These Rag and Bone Booties are my top pick for an investment piece.  They are still pricey even on sale but so worth the splurge.  I can't tell you how often I wear my Rag and Bone Newbury and Harrow booties.  I had a hard time deciding between the stone and asphalt colors, but I went with the stone.  Keep in mind most Rag and Bone boots run on the small side, I always go up a half size.

I meant to include these in my collage but this is a great buy.  Ugg slippers are my favorite.  These would make a great gift too.  They come in gray and cream knit.

I will share my favorite Beauty items from the sale soon, so many great picks.  I ordered this set with the shoes.  I am a sucker for a good pink lip color.

I am working really hard on this one, I have a hard time saying no.  Have a great weekend!
