What I Feed My Kids.

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is do your kids eat what you eat? and what do you feed your kids?   Both of my kids are hit or miss eaters.  Sometimes they eat great and shock me and sometimes they are super picky.
As much as I would like us to all sit down to dinner together as a family every night it just isn't possible with Matt's work schedule.  I feed Frances around 5:30 so she always eats before we do.  I would say about 2-3 nights a week Sterling eats with Matt and I but most of the time he is ready to eat at 5:30 when Frances does.
The past two weeks I tried to photograph their food.  Weekends we order pizza or eat out so these are mainly week night meals.  Lately Sterling wants to eat on a divided plate too since Frances does so I just feed him the same thing.  Frances is all about using a spoon these days which is great because I feel like she is trying more foods, like quinoa that she can scoop up.  I am not telling you my kids cleaned their plates but this what I served them:)  If it was a recipe of mine I linked to it.

String cheese | strawberries | quinoa | roasted cabbage | hummus and pita

shredded carrots | Peas | cheese | cantaloupe | yogurt

cheese | raspberries | navy beans  |roasted broccoli | salmon cakes

roasted shrimp | Asian slaw |  greek yogurt | blueberries | avocado

watermelon | quinoa | chicken meatballs | cheese | avocado

taco chicken | avocado| roasted white beans | cheese | apples

rotisserie chicken| mandarin oranges | edamame | avocado | boiled egg

I try not to feed my kids too much frozen food but sometimes you have to.  I really like the Kidfresh brand.  My kids like their fish sticks, chicken nuggets, and chicken meatballs.  They also do mac and cheese but neither of my kids love mac and cheese which blows my mind.

Other frozen foods we like are the puff pastry dogs from Trader Joes, Morning Star veggie burgers, and Dr Praeger Spinach nuggets.

The divided plates above are from skip hop and they are our favorites.
If you have any meals your kids love, I would love the recommendations!

Kale + Chickpea Caprese Salad

Now that the weather is warmer, I am all about some Summer Salads.  This salad takes like 5 minutes to toss together.  Super easy but it is so yummy and fresh.  If you have time make your own pesto it is always better.  I was lazy and used store bought though and it was still really good.  Fresh tomatoes are key.  For this salad I recommend the lacindo kale (the kind that is not curly).  It shreds perfectly for this salad.  Since kale is a bit sturdier this will save in your fridge for about 2 days, although it is best the first day.  Perfect for a Summer alfresco dinner!
Enjoy!

- 1 bunch lacindo kale
- 1 can chickpeas rinsed and drained
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes quartered
- 1 container small fresh mozzarella balls
- 1 container pesto
- handful shredded fresh basil

Shred the kale into thin strips.  Place in a bowl with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and chick peas.  Coat with the pesto and toss all together!  You may not need the whole container of pesto, just depends how much pesto you want on your salad:)

The Dress Edit | Wedding Attire

Today is a reader request day.  I received an email wanting some ideas of what to wear for Spring and Summer weddings.   Wishing I had a wedding coming up so I could buy one of these gorgeous frocks! There are some really great options right now.  These are great versatile dresses for any kind of event.

This dress is gorgeous and won't break the bank.  Love the colors and pattern.
I can't believe the price of this dress.  It looks way more expensive.  Such a beauty.

I actually own this dress from last year in a different color.  It is such a great, flattering fit.  I love the embroidery detail.

You can never go wrong with a classic black strapless dress.  This is a dress that would never be outdated.
This shift is sitting in my shopping cart right now.  Wishing I had some where to wear it to.  Love the color of blue and the beaded detail.

This dress is my favorite shade of blue.  Just stunning.
You might remember I bought this in the purple color.  Well the black is now on sale 40% off.  Such a fun little shift dress.
This dress is a great price and I love the neon yellow color.  Also comes in blush.  This is a great option for a beach wedding because it would look cute with flats as well as heels.

This dress is such a beautiful shade of pink.  I like that you could dress it up for a wedding or throw on flats for a more casual look, meaning you get more bang for buck.

I have this dress in a different print and love it. The embellished neckline really makes it pop.
a view of it on me:)

I am always a fan of blush/nude dresses.  The back of this is so pretty.

The simple knot detail takes this plain dress to another level.
Since many of these dresses are plain I would pair them with a fun pair of statement earrings.

If you need a few sandal ideas, I rounded up a few of my favorites.  I tend to prefer a nude sandal only because they go with everything.

Scenes From Our Weekend

We had such a lovely weekend.

Friday I was able to chaperone a field trip with Sterling's school.  It is always so special to have one on one time with him.  We took the kids to Jeremiah Goat Farm out on John's Island and it was so cool. I think I may have enjoyed it more then Sterling.  We got to see their garden and taste all kinds of vegetables and herbs they grew.  We also got to see some goats and feed the baby ones.

Came home to this sweet girl trying to eat toothpaste.
She wants to carry her toothbrush and toothpaste everywhere.
Several of you asked about the sandals Frances was wearing.  They are Salt Waters and such great sandals.  I put Sterling in them too when he was little.  They have a hard sole and are great for new walkers.

Friday night we had Happy with my sister and her husband who were in town for the weekend.
I am totally obsessed with watermelon radishes, they are so pretty and tasty too:)
 Busted out my new runner.

We took the kids to the Yacht Club to let them run around.  We didn't last long because it was so windy.

Saturday we took the kids to the Farmers Market.  On the way we stopped at Glazed.  They have the best doughnuts in town.  The girl working there talked me into trying the beet stuffed doughnut.  I know it sounds weird but it was so good.  The maple bacon is always a favorite and Sterling loves the fresh raspberry one.

Best picture we could get at the Farmers Market.  It was such a gorgeous day out.
Sterling has to ride the pony every time we go!
Wore this outfit both days this weekend.  When I find something I love I live in it.  The blouse is now on sale.

Saturday night we kept my nephew while my sister and husband stayed downtown for their anniversary.  The kids had so much fun together.  I love how close they are.  Taking care of three kids was hard though! No rest for the weary.

Had a fun brunch with the whole crew.
Wearing my new sunglasses, that I love!  Mine are the blush color but they also come in 2 other colors.

Frances was laughing so hard at Finley dancing.

Made one of my all time favorite side dishes for dinner Sunday.  Peas and Pancetta from my girl Ina.

Have a great Monday.
