My Pregnancy This Far + 40 % Sale at Hampden

15 days til my due date.  That is plain crazy ya'll.  I am freaking out a little.  This pregnancy has flown by.  I was just going back and reading old posts and I re-read my post from January about our struggle to get pregnant,  crazy how fast things change and now here I am with a full heart and full belly getting ready to welcome our second child. I am filled with so many different emotions right now from being so excited to being scared shitless to somewhere in between.

If I am being totally honest pregnancy the second time around for me has been much harder.  For one I was so nauseous in the beginning, then the varicose veins started popping up and they are really painful.  Plus from the get go I have had extreme pressure in my pelvis.  Nothing that requires bedrest or anything but still it has been hard.  Add a three year on top of that and I am constantly exhausted.  My mom said the other day " you sure sound tired, are you? " and I said Mom the answer to that question is always yes I am freaking exhausted all the time.  I hate to even complain when others are on bed rest and have much worse issues but this pregnancy has definitely been more taxing on my body.
I snapped this picture last weekend, it feels like a basketball in my stomach!

WORKING OUT
With Sterling I walked 4 miles everyday.  This pregnancy I have hardly worked out, it is too painful to walk for long.  Up until about 6 months I did the Tracey Anderson DVDs about 2-3 times a week but then exhaustion set in.   After taking care of Sterling and tending to the house I am just too tired most days to workout.  I do have a routine I do 4-5 nights a week which consists of leg lifts, squats, arm exercises and stretches.  It is really the only exercise I do just trying to keep things toned.  I just don't have it in me this time to be very active.  I do look forward to breaking a good sweat with a run post baby and getting my figure back.

FOOD AND WEIGHT GAIN
With Sterling I gained 37 pounds while I was pregnant,  totally in the normal range but I still didn't want to gain quite as much this time.  My goal was 25 lbs but uh that was unrealistic for me obviously:)  I am at the 30 lb mark now at 38 weeks and hopefully won't gain much more than a pound or two.  I have eaten pretty healthy this pregnancy besides my major indulgence of sweets and kids cereal.  Seriously I am obsessed with kids cereals, I eat a bowl most nights after dinner.   I have found with your pregnancy your body is going to gain weight and do what it needs for the baby so don't stress about it.  You will gain weight but it will come off afterwards.

BABY NAMES
So many people have asked if we have a baby name picked out and yes we do.  I actually knew from the moment I found out it was a girl what I would name her.  Our close friends know the name but I probably won't reveal it until she is born.

HARDEST PART
For me this is two fold.  It has been hard being present and in the moment with Sterling during this pregnancy.  I am most tired in the afternoons and just want to turn on the tv and lounge. It is a whole different ball game being pregnant with another child at home.  I have had a hard time with this and felt guilty for resting when I should be entertaining him.  I just don't have the energy like I used too.  Equally as hard I have missed my wine and vodka.  After a long day a glass of wine had become my go to stress relief.  and it was not just the wine I miss it was the happy hour aspect of chatting and catching up while you enjoy your drink- and no mocktails aren't the same.

DRESSING THE BUMP: BEST MATERNITY INVESTMENTS
I really have not bought any maternity clothes this time around, I found them unnecessary when so many clothes are made to fit loose these days.  I did splurge (and I mean my parents splurged ) and bought me the JBrand cut-off maternity shorts.  Worth every penny I promise you.  I have worn the heck out of them since I was 11 weeks pregnant.

Other maternity favorites are Old Navy Skinny JeansDavid Lerner Coated Leggings, Vince Ribbed Poncho, and Demylee Swing Tee Shirts (this exact shirt is actually packed in my hospital bag:)
This time around too I have been about showing the bump off in form fitting clothing.  This is the only time we don't have to suck our stomachs in so why not show it off!  Two of my favorite dresses to showcase your bump (and both are non maternity so you can wear after as well):

It is crazy this time around I am much more anxious about labor and delivery and I have done it before!  You would think I would have been more scared the first time around.  I just hate needles, and IVs, and hospitals.  I feel like a ticking time bomb.
I have talked with my doctor about a possible induction before Thanksgiving if she is not born before then,  anyone had an induction before?   It sure would make planning things for Sterling easy.

Other than being nervous I am so uncomfortable and so ready to meet our baby.  I even started packing my hospital bag this week- and yes that is wine a necessity post labor and delivery!  So stay tuned on this crazy ride hopefully in the two weeks or so I will be happy to announce the birth of our precious daughter!
One thing I know for sure and what makes me most excited is knowing this little guy is going to be the best big brother ever!

Lastly, I have to give one shout out for the sale that starts today at Hampden Clothing, my favorite local store!  Tons of stuff just got marked down to 40% off!  Locals you must stop in and non-locals you can shop online,  they always offer free shipping!
A few of my favorites!  I own the Rag and Bone Stripped Dress and love it! It works great for pregnancy too!  But what I really want is the first Rebecca Taylor Blouse.  Just scroll thru and click on pictures to take you to website:)
Happy Friday Friends!

Hills Plum- Shop You Need to Know About

If you love amazing vintage scores and treasures then you are gonna love you some Hills Plum.
My good friend Erin introduced me to this awesome site/shop run by two Raleigh friends Nan Jones and Jessica Carter. If you live in Raleigh, then lucky you, you can visit their shop in person, they have a booth at Cheshire Cat Gallery in Raleigh, NC.  But don't worry if you are not in Raleigh,  all items posted on Instagram and FB are available for purchase and the girls ship all over and even offer local delivery in Raleigh.   You can follow them on Instagram at Hillsplum and on FB Here

Nan, one of the co founders of Hills Plum in addition to having a major eye for design and vintage scores,  is an amazing artist and does custom paintings that rock!  She sent me this gorgeous one for our house and I am smitten with it!  The colors go perfectly in our house.  She is really talented.

You can email her at Hillsplum@gmail.com and she will custom create a painting with whatever colors you want!  I highly recommend!!  Here is another one of her works.  Stunning, right??

If you are not in the market for a painting Hills Plum has so many other awesome offerings.  They take vintage crates and  then add casters to the bottom so they roll- how cool are these?   They would make an awesome rolling cooler for a party to pile beverages in.   They would also be so cute for toy storage in a playroom.   And they also make custom tables out of raw wood with steel legs.  Such a cool statement piece for your house!

and the girls are always finding the most incredible vintage finds.  I check my instagram all the time just to see what they post next- a few recent vintage findings at Hills Plum- and their prices are super affordable!

That ice bucket has my name written all over it!  So go check out Hills Plum on FB and Instagram now! You will love following all the awesome finds these ladies dig up!

Roasted Veggie and Smoked Gouda Pasta

Today I am coming at you with another awesome vegetarian meal. We are on week two of meatless Mondays and I am loving it. The hubs not so much.  I really liked this pasta, it was filled with all my favorite veggies and loaded with smoked Gouda.  Plus you can make it ahead of time and just pop it in your oven.  It makes a huge dish you could easily split this in half and take half to a friend.   You could make this with any veggies you have on hand but I like the combo of the veggies below.  Load up on the cheese and Enjoy!

|| R O A S T E D  V E G G I E  A N D   S M O K E D  G O U D A  P A S T A ||
adapted from How Sweet Eats

Ingredients:

1/2 orange bell pepper chopped
1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped
1 1/2 cups broccoli florets, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 pound brussel sprouts, stems removed and sliced
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 pound pasta shells, cooked (I used shells but any pasta would work)
1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
8 ounces smoked gouda cheese, freshly grated (one round of smoked Gouda)
1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
1/2- 1 cup heavy cream
freshly grated parmigiano-reggiano cheese for topping

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Place the chopped peppers, sweet potato, broccoli, onion, brussels, mushrooms and garlic cloves on a nonstick baking sheet. Drizzle the veggies with the olive oil and honey. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper and then give them a thorough toss. Roast the veggies for 25 to 30 minutes, tossing them once halfway through. I cook the pasta while the veggies are roasting.
Drain pasta and then toss with heavy cream and 1/2 smoked Gouda and Parmesan cheese.  Mix together.
Spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray. Add the pasta and half of the veggies, then spoon half of the diced tomatoes over top. Add half of the grated cheese, then layer again with the remaining pasta, veggies, diced tomatoes and cheese. Finish the top off with a sprinkling of breadcrumbs. Bake the pasta for 25 to 30 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly on top. Serve with extra cheese for grating on top.
This stays great in the fridge for 4 to 5 days - it's an awesome make ahead meal.

Scenes From Our Weekend + What I Wore

Happy Monday Friends. Did everyone have a good weekend? Here is what we were up to.
Friday night we took a stroll on the beach near our house, we are so lucky to love so close to the beach.  We saw a giant snake, Matt tried to snap a picture but it was moving too fast and got way- it was definitely creepy.  It was huge with black diamonds- the stuff nightmares are made out of.

Saturday Morning I took Sterling out to breakfast, Matt got up early to surf with a friend so it was just me and my little man.  Really savoring these moments just the two of us.  Normally I would have been lazy and picked up drive thru food but figured with the impending arrival of baby girl it might be awhile til the two of us can do a solo breakfast date again.  We both were craving pancakes so we hit up Sweetwater.  Please take a look at the amount of syrup on my little mans plate.  The pancakes were swimming in it!

I finally started writing thank you notes from my Sprinkle two weeks ago.  My friend Sam designed me the most adorable note cards with our family on them.  If you are local she works with Mac and Murphy and does these custom note cards.  I love mine! It looks just like us, right?

I received the sweetest package in the mail Saturday from my friend Sarah Swanson (Flourish Design and Style), she sent some of her watercolor paintings for the nursery.  You must check out here Etsy site Here, all her paintings are only $10- you could do such a fabulous gallery wall for cheap with these beauties!

Saturday night we met my brother and wife for happy hour and apps at the Roof Top Bar.  It was the perfect weather for outdoor dining!

I wore my David Lerner coated leggings that I blogged about last week, I love them!  Paired them with an old Joie Blouse (similar versions HEREHERE, HERE ) and Rebecca Minkoff Booties.  Seriously the leggings are the best so comfortable!

Sunday we all went to church together which was nice because it is normally just me and Sterling.  Sometimes it is hard to convince Daddy to join us.  I bribed him with the lure of Bojangles afterwards and it worked.

I wore my JCrew Sweater dress.  The colors in this dress are so awesome for Fall.  It is on major sale right now online.  Runs on the larger side, I got an XS.

and now we are down to two weekends til my due date,  freaking out a little.
xoxo
