Style Files Vol 18 | Shades of Wine

I am pretty much obsessed with this wine color for Fall.  I think it is the most flattering shade on everyone!  I featured this dress from Nordstrom a few weeks ago on my obsessions post and had to order it for myself.
I love the swingy style and lace detail.

This embroidered clutch is the best.  The perfect size for a night out.  I love the embroidery detail but it also comes in several solid colors as well.

The dress also comes in black.   I found sizing wise the dress runs TTS.  I am wearing a small.  It comes fully lined with a slip that is removable.

Here are a few other wine/burgundy items I am crushing on for Fall!  If you ever want to search for an item by color on Nordstrom it is super easy with the tool bar on top.  You can search by price, designer, and color!

I really love this cold shoulder tee. It is only $39!.

Of course I am still off shoulder obsessed.  This is a fun flirty style for fall.

This dress looks so comfy and comes in several other color options.  I always love a trapeze style dress and they are perfect for any of you expecting moms too.  Added bonus its under $100.

This cardigan is under $80!! It looks so soft and cozy.

I own this bag in two colors.  You can carry it as a clutch or cross body.
I have these in the nude color and love them.  They are under $100 and really comfortable.
These also come in black.  I love the tassel detail at the back and they are not crazy expensive.
This off Shoulder Blouse I shared Tuesday is also that pretty wine shade but with stripes.  It comes in so many other fun patterns too.  I am wearing a size small.

Thanks to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.

Veggie Burger Bowls + Fall Accesories

I love a veggie burger and I also love a veggie bowl, so this recipe was calling my name.   This is basically a deconstructed veggie burger piled into a bowl.  I absolutely loved all the components in this bowl.  The marinated chick peas, pickled red onions and the Greek yogurt sauce were my favorites.  They brought such great flavor to the dish.  I really recommend making the quick pickled red onions and cucumbers.  It was so simple and they were so good.  Plus they will save in your fridge for awhile too.   You can use any grain you want. I used a mix of brown rice, spelt, and barley that I found at Harris Teeter.  I think it would also be great with quinoa or couscous.

|| V E G G I E  B U R G E R  B O W L S ||
adapted via Bowl cookbook

- 1 cup barley, brown rice or quinoa cooked according to package
- 1 can chick peas
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- 1 avocado diced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
- pickled red onions (see recipe below)
- quick pickled cucumbers (see recipe below)
- 1 cup greek yogurt
- 3 teaspoons chili garlic sambal sauce or sriracha
- 2 cups shredded lettuce- romaine, butter leaf, or red leaf, or arugula

Cook the rice, barley or quinoa according to the package.  Season well with salt and pepper.  I also added one tablespoon of butter just for flavor:)

Drain and rinse the chickpeas and place in a bowl.  Add olive oil, dijon mustard, chopped parsley, and salt and pepper.  Stir together, let it marinate and sit at least 30 minutes.

Combine Greek yogurt and sambal or sriracha.

To assemble layer the brown rice/barley on the bottom.  Top with chick peas, cherry tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, pickled red onion, shredded lettuce, avocado and Greek yogurt sauce.

|| Q U I C K  P I C K L E D  C U C U M B E R S ||

-1 english cucumber or 4 small Persian cucumbers
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Use a mandolin to slice the cucumbers really thin- if you don't have one you can use a knife.  Place the cucumbers in a colander and toss with sugar and salt.  Let them sit and drain for 30 minutes.  Rinse off and let excess water drain.  Toss with the rice vinegar, add more if desired.  These will stay fresh for about a week.

|| Q U I C K   P I C K L E D  R E D  O N I O N S ||

- 1 red onion sliced thinly
- 1/3 cup white vinegar
- 1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 teaspoons sugar

Place white vinegar, rice wine vinegar, water, and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Add in sliced onions and stir to cover with liquid.  Let boil 2 minutes, then remove from the heat.  Let cool and then transfer to an airtight container.  These will save for several weeks in the fridge.

Scenes From Our Weekend

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!  Ours was extra long since they called off school Friday because of a hurricane threat.  Luckily no real damage here just lots of broken branches and leaves we had to clean up in our yard.

Big news we moved Frances to a big girl bed!  She has been asking me since our beach trip this summer for a big girl bed.  We are still waiting on her headboard and few other pieces for the room but her bed is in and she loves it.  This was the entire crew she insisted on sleeping with the first night.
Here is a peek at what it looks like now.  I will do a post soon and share everything when we arrange and get her headboard and other pieces in.

Loving this off shoulder top I blogged about last week.  It comes in about 7 color options and is under $50.  I wore it over the weekend.  Sizing wise it runs TTS, I am wearing a small.

Loved having my parents in town all week!

This purse is my new obsession.  I love the color and shape.  Chips and dip for Friday happy hour.
Oh and the new Beauty Counter lipgloss color Fig is perfection.  It is not as dark as it looks, it goes on sheer and is a great shade for Fall!

Also loving the BC Charcoal Mask.  It gets super tight while you wear it and then when you wash it off your skin feels amazing.  I also use it as a spot treatment for zits.  It helps dry them out and works great.  I dot it on the zits and sleep with it and then in the morning they are so much better.  This was my raging Friday night in bed by 9 with a book and my face mask:)
Since we stayed with my parents for the weekend, I loved sitting on their back deck enjoying my coffee every morning.  Such a gorgeous view.
Sterling loves my parents Maltese, Moonie.  I keep telling him one day we will get a small dog.

Saturday was a pool day!
My cover-up I have been raving about all Summer is now back in stock in all colors.  I have both the long and short version and love them both.  My cover-up, sunglasses and tote are all under $100 too.

That afternoon I met my girlfriend for some wine and cheese and then we headed to dinner with my parents and the kids to try out a new restaurant on James Island.   I just love this tee shirt dress, it is so soft and easy to dress up or down!

Sunday was my mom's birthday and if you follow my instastories then you saw I made her a cake to celebrate.  I made this Toffee Bundt Cake with Caramel Icing and it was so good!!  Mine does not look that pretty but I assure you it was delicious.

My Dad took us all out to dinner at The Grocery that night.
My mom and I shared several things: the oysters, butternut squash, chopped salad, and okra.  They were all incredible.  The Grocery is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants, it never disappoints.  Even the kid's meals were fantastic!
My brother and sister in law were in town for the night so they were able to join us which was really fun.
What I wore:

I let Frances sleep in bed with me that night and we had the best time taking pics before bed:)

Monday I went fabric shopping for our chairs in the den and the cleaned house.  After 5 guys stayed there all weekend there was lots to clean:)   Then we let the kids play outside and caught a beautiful sunset last night.

Thanks to my Dad I found a new instagram account to follow called @thinkgrowprosper.  It has some really good inspiring quotes everyday.  I loved this one and so many more.
Have a great short week!
