Lets Talk About Shapewear: My Top 7 Pieces

As anyone knows who has had a baby it is all smoke and mirrors the first few months to hide the flab and look good.  I am a HUGE fan of shapewear, I have a drawer filled with Spanx that I wear often.  I thought I would share my top 7 favorite shapewear items and hope you will fill me in on your favorites!

This is probably my most favorite shapewear piece and the one I wear most often.  I wear it under almost all my dresses especially the thin tee shirt and silk ones.  It sucks you in like no other.  I have a size small, you want it fitted not loose so order accordingly.  This is such a great slip.

I know these probably seem Granny to you but they are awesome under formal dresses and skirts.  They smooth out any love handles.  I bought these before my wedding to wear to our Rehearsal Dinner and have been using them ever since.

These camis are great to wear under blouses, tee shirts, anything you don't want to have a bulge sticking out.  My mom swears by these too and wears them daily.

The best tights ever for a sleek sucked in look.  I have these in black and love them.  The only tights you need!  It is worth investing in one nice pair of black tights.

For when you need a lighter weight slip with spaghetti straps this one is awesome.

I don't wear this one as often as the tank versions but it is really nice to have on hand when you have a strapless dress to wear.  Back when we used to have alot of weddings and events to attend I wore this one all the time.

I have sung the praises of these leggings many times but had to include them on this list because I lived in them post baby.  I swear I think they helped my stomach flatten back up quicker because they kept everything sucked in.  What I like is that they have a band at the waist that keeps everything tight and smooth.  I had the full length version but sadly it looks like they are sold out on most sites.  But I did see they just came out in this Capri version- I am definitely getting these for this Spring,  Also available in different colors here.

Mommy Somebody Needs You

I read this piece over the weekend and it really resonated with me.   Like it had me crying and I have been thinking about it ever since.  I think since there is a chance Frances may be my last baby, I am holding her a little tighter, savouring the late night feedings and enjoying every little second with her because I know she and Sterling will be grown in the blink of an eye.  Don't even get me started on the fact that Sterling starts kindergarten in a year- time needs to slow down.

Go Read the Article " Mommy Somebody Needs You." HERE.

You might be crying afterwards but I promise it will make you hug your babies a little tighter and relish in this crazy but wonderful time with young children.

Thoughts For Friday

It has been awhile since I have done a random thoughts post so here we go.

Is anyone else over Juan Pablo?  He is so cheesy and lame to me.  Quite possibly the worst Bachelor ever.  His voice makes me cringe.  Even Matt has made me start recording it at night because he can't bear to hear his voice.  I love that Andi dumped him.  His repetition of "ok" was getting to me too.   I hope she is the next bachelorette,

I am hooked on the Revlon lip Crayons.  During the snow storm in Charlotte my mom and I were bored so we did a little drug store shopping and I picked up one of these to try and ended up loving it.  They are cheap and go on really well.   I got number 205 and it is a great neutral pink for Spring.

I am pretty sure this is going to be my lunch next week.  How good does it look and simple too.

Wednesday Night I went out to dinner with Chassity and Caycee and finally had the chance to carry my Gigi New York Uber Clutch.  I love it and can tell it is going to be my most carried clutch.  I love my initials on it and the fact that I can fit so much stuff in it!  It comes in some great new colors for Spring.  They are also out in a cool pebbled version for Spring as well!

Locals you so need to hit up Thera M.  They used to be DT but now are on Coleman Blvd In Mount Pleasant with parking,  so it is much easier to stop in!  They have some great new Spring stuff in.  I stopped in this week and loved everything.  While I was there I found my new favorite jeans, the JBrand Midrise Skinnies in Quantum.  I had been wanting a distressed pair of jeans and these are amazing. They are so flattering!!  I promise you will love them.  Stop in Thera M ot you can order online here.  Also available HERE because Thera M only has a few sizes left.

Everything and I mean everything in our yard is dead.  I am ready for spring and to spruce things up but I swear my plants never last long.  This year I want to do something simple and green like these tall planters.  Maybe the greenery will last longer.

Today is the last day of the Bobbi Brown friends and family sale where you can get 20% off your purchase.  I am smitten with her new Nectar and Nudes Eyeshadow Pallette.
I also love the new netar and nudes lipgloss colors so pretty!  You can shop her whole site HERE.

I am guilty of having my phone out way too much but it often captures priceless moments like this and makes me glad I had it close by. These two melt my heart, nothing sweeter than sibling love.

Have a great weekend!

NDM Style: MZ Wallace

We had the best weather this weekend, the kind that just instantly puts you in a good mood.  I understand why people get depressed in the winter all the cold, snow and dark gloomy days can get to you!  We spent alot of time outside so I persuaded Matt to snap a few pictures of my new favorite tote bag.

I am always on the lookout for cute totes.  This MZ Wallace one is my newest obsession.  What I love most about it is it looks like a Kelly Wearstler pattern.  I love the black and white graffiti/ splatter paint look!  Black and white is always so classic to me.

If you are looking for some cute longer tees, the Mossimo one I am wearing is my new favorite and they are dirt cheap at Target.  Great for working out or just running errands.  This is a typical Saturday outfit for me.

Also I finally got some new running shoes.  I love these New Balances ones I am wearing, they are lightweight and so comfortable.  I am super happy with them.

I have been using my MZ Wallace Tote to stash all the kids stuff in and it also serves as a great gym bag!  It is quilted and easy to wipe down if you spill something which makes it a great Diaper Bag.  I keep it in my car with all Frances Moon's diapers and baby stuff so I always have it with me.

I just love the leather detail on the handles.

Truly an all around fabulous bag.  It is even big enough to use a weekend getaway bag.  Next time I head to Charlotte I will be packing it up and bringing it! It comes in a smaller version here but I am partial to big bags!  Once I became a Mom my motto was the bigger the better for bags!

You can shop some of the other fabulous MZ Wallace bags below.

This post was brought to you by Nordstrom,  all opinions and thoughts are my own!

Fish Taco Bowls

Get ready to have your minds blown.  If you love fish tacos you will love this decomposed bowl version.  They were so delicious!  Now if it were up to me I would have served these over brown rice but Matt has an aversion to brown rice and wheat bread (typical man) - he likes all things white so I obliged him with white rice.  You can add whatever toppings you like but I loved this combo. We used Mahi for our fish which we both love but any white fish would work fine!  I chopped and assembled all the toppings ahead of time and popped it in the fridge so all I had to do at dinner was cook the fish and rice- easy weeknight meal!  The bowls were so fresh tasting and full of flavor.
Enjoy!

|| F I S H  T A C O  B O W L S ||

Ingredients

2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons cumin
Dash of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes
Pinch of garlic powder
1-2 pounds Mahi fillets (or other white fish such as tilapia)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Olive oil
3 green onions, chopped
1 cup cherry tomatoes, chopped
1 cup frozen corn, thawed, or fresh corn cut off the cob
1 15 ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese ( I love cabot or cracker barrel)
2 cups cooked rice
Avocado diced (I drizzled with lime juice to prevent from browning before dinner)
Sliced jalapenos
Hot sauce or salsa

In a small bowl combine chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.  Drizzle fish with olive oil and then sprinkle evenly over fish add salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.   Bake fish about 25 mins until flaky with fork.

Layer rice, all other toppings, and fish in a bowl and top with avocado, jalapenos, and hot sauce or salsa if desired.  Note- the toppings are best served room temperature for this meal.
