Random Friday

I am just going to go ahead and warn you, this post is all over the place today. I think this heat is making my brain fried. So get ready for some pure randomness.

I made Gwynnie's Blueberry Muffins from My Father's Daughter this week and I was so disappointed. Don't be fooled by how pretty they look.

Matt hit it right on the nail when he said they tasted like they were made with cornbread. They were just a weird texture. I am wondering if my flour was old, I keep it in a container so I have no bag with a date on it. Has this happened to anyone else with old flour? I hate that I wasted a pint of blueberries because we ended up throwing the muffins away. I am willing to try the recipe again with new flour and see if that was the issue. But this guy sure liked them even if we didn't.

My forever 21 dress came and it was as I expected very thin material. I think the dress is super cute and I love the color, but I didn't realize how see-thru the top part was going to be. I mean you can pretty much see my bra. I can wear my nude spanx slip on the bottom but how would you address the issue up top?? I think it would look stupid with a tank top underneath and you would see the lines of the tank. I am stumped. The dress was so cheap I didn't feel like paying to send it back so I am trying to work with what I got. A good lesson to buy in store at F21.

My Tilly Maison Lucite tray came in the mail yesterday and I absolutely love it! I think I am going to put it in our bathroom. I am already dreaming of what I want to order from her next.

Tonight we having hot dogs with truffled tator tots for dinner. One of my favorite meals ever!

I am thinking about ordering the Clinton Street Baking Company Cookbook.

I read a great write-up in House Beautiful about it that peaked my interest. They are a locally owned restaurant in NYC that apparently has an off the hook breakfast. Their pancakes are one of the main things they are famous for. Curious if anyone has this book or any thoughts on it?

I have a new guilty pleasure and please don't judge me but I kind of love the Ice loves Coco show on E. It is way more entertaining than I thought it would be and they actually seem like a sweet couple. I swear any reality TV show can suck me.

Is that enough randomness for this Friday? I warned you this post was gonna be rando. Have a great weekend Lovelies! xoxo

Let's chat!
As for the muffins, I think it's the recipe not your flour. That happened to me before with a homemade muffin recipe.
Dress problem: Add a hot pink or other colorful tank underneath so you're embracing the peekaboo not trying to hide it
tilly maison: my heart just dropped when I clicked on the link and her shop is closed. Something about a vacay...what nerve! ha!
Hotdogs: my secret love. I'm embarrased by how much I love them. Best around are sonic coneys and Sams Club. My husband and I seriously got excited last week when Wells ran out of formula because it meant we got a hotdog.
Pancakes: they look fab!

I love your random post.... I hate when I make something then end up throwing it away, such a waste of time, money, food... that is the gamble with F21 a lot of the clothing is thin material or once you wash it, never the same!!... Love the tray, I have been eyeing some pieces myself on that site... Get the cookbook, I am always on the hunt for a fabulous brunch restaurant. One just opened last week here, I can't wait to try it, there definitely is a shortage of good brunch places here so I am always looking for recipes....I have been watching that show too, how old is Coco? I was trying to figure that out.

Have a great weekend!!!!!!!

I would rock a black bra with the dress, its ok if it shows a little. Its such a cute dress. And the muffins sounds so disappointing.

I need to get involved with some truffle oil - I've heard great things about it. I agree with you about the tank top under the dress...it wouldn't be the way to go. Could you get one of those bras with the plunging neck line in the front (I had one for a dress that had a v-neck way below the chest area) and it fit very well. Other than that, I'm kind of stumped. :(

Have a great weekend Natalie!

Love this post! FYI: I bet you can return the dress in-store at Forever 21...that's how J.Crew does it, anyway. :)

I have the Clinton St. Cookbook and love it!! I bought it since I saw Bobby Flay in a "Throwdown" with them over their blueberry pancakes/maple butter. They never put that recipe online, but it is in here. Although I have not cooked/baked from this book, It was well worth the price for the goodies that it has inside. Plus for the price of the book, it would cover probably just one serving of the pancakes if you went to the restaurant. (Always, like to help justify a purchase.)

Love love love the tray! I need to get one of those! Bummer about the F21 dress - darn I hate when stores make cute but cheap things! Have a good weekend and enjoy the dogs and tots :)

Not to get too graphic for your dress issue but try Target's sticky bra. Its strapless and clear and it kind of suctions on to you! It's perfect for low cut numbers!

Great color on you though!

Love the F21 dress! I think you should just rock a nude bra and keep it moving. Or one in a fun color close to the dress. It's really not that bad. I like Ice loves Coco but Coco is too much with all that booty and makeup!

I like everyone's ideas for the dress. I think you could wear a colorful bra underneath on purpose if you're feeling daring!?

I haven't watched that show but I'm tempted. They both seem very likeable.

Bummer about the muffins!! I know some of her recipes can be on the bland side, but maybe it was the flour!? And LOVE the lucite tray...I really want one now! Hope you have a great weekend! :)

The dress still looks pretty! Maybe a pretty bra that is supposed to be seen would work? And I hate to admit it too... but I saw Ice loves Coco and really thought they were sweet too haha!

I've got the Clinton Street Baking Cookbook (on the Kindle) and LOVE it. Recipes are great. I became a fan after watching them on Bobby Flay's Throwdown. Definitely worth getting!

Hey, I say go with whatever is on your mind, girl! I'm going with what is on mine: JEALOUS of your tilly maison tray! LOVE IT! I haven't been able to pull the trigger on one of those lovelies yet...and I'm laughing about the Ice loves Coco show...I actually kinda like them, too (even though I haven't seen the show), they do seem like a fun couple! (c: Enjoy the weekend girl!

That dress is cute, but I hate when something is sheer and it makes it unwearable! Could you wear a nude tank underneath??

I am your newest follower and I love the randomness of this post! I think that way too. Love the food, Forever 21, cute baby and reality TV. I can't wait for the RHW of BEverly Hills to start...

I love this rando post! The muffins look delish- let us know what happens w/ diff flower? Glad your little munchkin loved them! I'm stumped about the dress- the only thing I can think of is sewing a lining into the dress (maybe white)? But why do that to a $21 dollar dress?

Love the lucite tray! Tilly Maison's creations have been on my wishlist, as well. When the shop opens again, will definitely place an order. : ) I think it would look pretty on a vanity with perfume bottles(new and vintage). Haven't tried the muffins yet, but thanks for the heads-up. I did make the fudgy chocolate browmies this weekend, and they were pretty yummy!
