Fridays Musings

As you know I have been on the search for a mascara I love.  So far I have tried Loreal Voluminous, Chanel,  Benefit For REAL, 3d Fiber Lash, and Maybelline Great Lash.  They all have worked fine, honestly I didn't love one much more than the other.  But while I was in Neiman Marcus last week buying some Chanel make-up the girl gave me a sample of the new Chanel Volume Mascara and I think this one is the winner.  It goes on great and I swear makes my eyelashes look so much thicker and longer than the others.  Try it I promise you will love it!  The girl working there was wearing it and I thought her lashes were fake that is how good they look. Love this stuff!

I also picked up my first tube of YSL Lipstick.  I am pretty darn happy with it.  I wanted a pink color and what I love is this one can be sheer or darker depending how much you put on.  Plus the packaging is gorgeous.

Excuse the selfie but this gives you an idea of the color on.  Its a really nice pink.

I just started reading The Hurricane Sisters by Dorothea Benton Frank and already I am sucked into it.  It is such a great read and I love that it takes place in Charleston.
If you are looking for an easy Summer Read pick this book up!

Matt and I tried a new Rose this week that was very good.  I think I have him starting to love Rose too.  I found this one at World Market, it is light not sweet and very smooth.

I am seriously in love with my mirrored Ray Bans- I want another pair in a different color- what is wrong with me??  I want to own like 20 pairs of Ray-Bans I love them so much!

I bought Frances Moon her first headband, she finally has some hair so I figured it was ok to throw a headband on.  Loving this one from Progeny Shop, it is so cute!
Sterling is wearing the Maracas Jumpsuit and it is crazy adorable

I headed to GDC Home this week with Frances to get some fabric samples for my wing back chairs.  I don't know what is about fabric but I have a hard time deciding which one to do- commitment issues I guess.  We browsed for awhile in there, they have so much great home stuff!

I picked out some good samples now its just narrowing it down and probably picking up more samples to compare.

Sterling has been in Tennis camp this week and for any locals it has been a wonderful camp.  I signed up thru the James Island Rec Center and will totally do it again next Summer.

I am getting ready to order a spiralizer- does anyone have one??  I am thinking of buying the $10 handheld one, but I know many people like the Paderno- I just am not sure I want to store it.  But I want one that works well.
Thoughts on one vs the other??

I am dying to make this Zucchini Pasta!

Maxi Obsessed

It is no secret I love a maxi dress.  It is a one stop outfit.  You don't have to think about matching bottoms or tops, you just throw it on and you are pulled together instantly.  I also love that I can wear most maxi dresses with my flats.  I am not a big heels person, I love flats.  Comfort is key these days for me.

I discovered this new line of dresses called Felicity and Coco while I was in Charlotte shopping at Nordstrom.  They are affordable, comfortable and came in so many great styles.  I honestly had a hard time choosing.
This particular style came in three different color versions but I am a sucker for hot pink.  Loved the ikat design too.
These have quite a bit of stretch to them and run on the large side so definitely order down a size, I am wearing an XS.

I love the shirred waist.  This could definitely work as a maternity dress too, plenty of stretch and room to grow.

And of course my little man joined me for a picture and I had to show off my new Rose Gold Mirrored Ray Bans, I love them!

The second style I loved was this strapless maxi.  I loved the colors and the ruffled top.

It also has a shirred waist, which I think helps the fit be more flattering.

My photographer (aka Mom) suggested I stop and smell the flowers:)

Action photos make me laugh, I would never be a good Supermodel!  But my mom does have some gorgeous plants on her deck.

I really loved this in the black version too, but it came out after I bought the strapless one.

Shopbop Sale || Best Buys

It seems like Shopbop is always running some sort of a sale but it is a great time to buy some items for your closet.
I have been wanting a pair of Vince D'Orsay flats for ever and finally bought these for 70% off!  They will be perfect for fall.

The Rag and Bone Newbury Boots are a great buy.  I own two pairs and live in them come Fall.  I love the camel color too, a great neutral.  They are an investment but worth every penny.

The Rag and Bone jean shorts are also a great buy, I own the cut-offs and the boyfriend ones and they are awesome. The Boyfriend Short is a longer short and looser fit if that is the style you are going for.

Easy Wedge Salads

Sometimes I forget how much I love a wedge salad, probably because I don't eat them that often.  Matt wanted to grill steaks Sunday night and I immediately thought we need a wedge salad to go with our steaks.  There are a million different ways to make a wedge salad but this is our way.  Little fact about me I hate bottled salad dressing, I never buy it.  It tastes so processed and yuck to me.  You can make your own Ranch from scratch, but I swear by the Hidden Valley Ranch packets.  It is all the seasonings and you just add in mayo and milk.  It tastes so much better than the bottled kind- trust me!  You can do a vinaigrette or even Thousand Island with the salad if you don't like Ranch.  My dad likes to do half ranch half thousand island, the best of both worlds!   This salad is super easy but full of flavor!
Enjoy!

- Cherry tomatoes diced
- 1 package bacon cooked and crumbled ( I use the microwave kind)
- 1 head iceberg lettuce
- green onions sliced
- crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
- 1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
- 1 cup Mayo
- 1 cup milk

Whisk together Hidden Valley packet with mayo and milk and set in fridge. The dressing needs to sit in the fridge at least 30 minutes before you serve it, but longer is better.   Cut the Iceberg Lettuce in half and then half again, I like to serve quartered pieces.  A head will give you 8 quarters.  Assemble lettuce on serving platter and drizzle with ranch. Then top with tomatoes, onions, bacon, and cheese.  If you drizzle the ranch first it helps the toppings stay put on the lettuce!  Then drizzle with more Ranch!
