Party Planning

It is hard to believe but my baby boy's second Birthday is 15 days away! Where did the last two years go? I am just starting to plan his 2nd birthday party. Yep, I am slack like that and just ordered his invites yesterday, but I work best under pressure. Thank God for Pinterest. I have been scouring the site for ideas for the big day. We are doing a low key party at our house. I like to have parties that are fun for the kids and adults (hence why booze will be served). Here are a few ideas I am loving. Any other fabulous Birthday Party ideas shoot them my way please!

Flavored Vodka for the Adults a definite yes.

Anti-Pasta Skewers. Love this unique spin on skewers.

Cute Pigs in a Blanket decomposed.

Adore these Fish Cupcakes, just not sure if they might be better suited for a birthday party with kids older than two!

Balloons with Streamers. This needs to happen on my porch.

Rainbow Skewers, perfect for the kids and pretty to look at.

Love the presentation of this veggie bar.

I am seriously considering buying some canvases for the kids to paint. Obviously not this large, Mama can't afford that, but I thought some small ones might be cute set up on a table. I like the idea of a craft the kids can take home and I adore all the paintings Sterling has created.

I am also working on goodie bags. I hate goodie bags filled with random stuff Sterling will never use or eat. So tell me moms, what are your favorite things to find in goodie bags for your child? Thanks for all your help during crunch time!

I haven't done many goodie bags since Henry's so young, but I did do baskets for two little girls a while back and I put playdough, chalk, crazy straws, some glitter pens, and a small coloring book (their parents weren't big on candy or sweet things). I need to try those rainbow fruit skewers!!

LOVE the CANVAS idea..I might do that for my daughters 9th party!! I think the cupcakes are too much for little ones but they are presh!!
For Goodie Bags I usually do(when they were little)chalk, bubbles and a cute bouncy ball..depends on the theme..one year we did monogrammed cups(small party). i make the both skewers all of the time!! A big hit!

For creative goody bag ideas, why don't you try Etsy! There is a cute shop called, HeyYoYo that has party supplies, etc. Mini playdough conatiners are a great idea because they come in giant packs and many colors. We sometimes bring ours to restaurants(that aren't too fancy, of course!). Stickers and bubbles are always a big hit with my daughter. Try Amazon and Oriental Trading Co for those.

I love those skewers and think I might do something like that for a party I have coming up. The baloons and streamers are adorable too!

I love the idea of an art themed party - such a fun colorful theme and lends itself to easy activities. Then the kids could get mini paints and colors for their goodie bags. I thought about doing that for my son's 4th birthday, but went with a bookworm theme instead, which you can see here: http://apparentlyobsessed.blogspot.com/2011/11/bookworm-party.html

I can't believe he is about to be 2!!! You have some great ideas. Check out Dollar tree for goodie bags. Kids love bubbles!

For goodie bags I have put in Chick fil a gift cards and wendys gift cards for icecream/frostys. Just a cute label on top and you actually spend less because you save on the packaging and its much appreciated when you aren't bogging playrooms down with more junk!

I love the painted canvas idea. We haven't had the first birthday yet but my mom always said one good thing as a goodie rather than lots of little things. Like play dough wrapped up cute :)

Planning goody bags is always my favorite party of planning my boys' parties. I like to include homemade treats (choc. dipped pretzel sticks with colorful sprinkles) or wrapped choc. dipped marshmellows. The kids love bubbles and chalk. You can find tons of handmade crayons in all shapes on Etsy and for my son's upcoming construction party, I've ordered handmade dump truck shaped soaps from Etsy with tags that say "For the clean up crew." I'm so excited!

If you do the painting part I would make a goodie bag with a small set of water colors and a book to paint in or I have had friends make paint smocks with the kids initials on them. Both would be cute ideas.

I've found cheap canvases at the dollar store before--you should check it out!! Those fruit skewers are so pretty and I like the more sophisticated swing on pigs in a blanket--are those made with sausage?

Love all those ideas! You should also do a banner with his name. I made one myself using poster board. It's on my mommy blog if you want to check it out!

LOve the painting idea.Really best advice I come across.one more idea is have some party games set up. This does not mean what it used to with pin the tail on the donkey or spin the bottle. Some games of everything as players deal with divorced parents, mediocre jobs/income, and marriage. It can be a real laugh.
