Lounging.

Ok major confession.  I don't own any lounge wear.  The last time I bought loungewear was when the Juicy Couture Track Suits were in full effect. Sadly,  I still own three pairs of the velour pants and rock them around the house.  This is where I need help.  I want some cute casual clothes I can wear around the house.  I have good workout clothes, and I have cute day clothes and at night for the most part I sleep in nightgowns but I want something for that in between time after running errands and before bed I can throw on and be comfy but still look cute.   Something that would be acceptable to wear out in public if I had to run to the store but equally comfy. I want to look like this around the house.  Chic but comfortable.

I am clueless about lounge wear.  I mean I really am.  Everyday I fix my hair and put on make-up and get dressed up no matter what.  The day after Sterling was born I got up showered, proceeded to blow dry and straighten my hair, put on make-up and get dressed in cute clothes.  The nurses made so much fun of me and said where do you think you are?  Competing to be on Americas' Next Top Model?   Matt claims he can tell when I am truly really sick because that is the only time I don't put on make-up or get dressed up.  It is sickness I don't know how to be casual, so help a sister out.   I need recommendations for cute casual loungewear.
Here a few items I am eyeing.   Strongly leaning towards the JCrew Weekend Pants.

And this is number one on my Christmas Wish List.  My mom has these slippers and they are the comfiest thing I have ever slipped my feet into.  They feel like pure heaven on your feet.  If you don't have a pair you need a pair.  The perfect around the house shoes.

And how cute are these pajamas?  Adorable, I want the short set and the nightshirt.  I love chic sleepwear that is equally cute to wear around the house.

So dish it to me where I can I get some cute casual lounge clothes?

Ok girlfriend. I am in the very same boat with ya. My lounge clothes are not cute at all. I do have some darling pajamas but cannot rock those around the house from 5pm until bedtime. Looks a bit ridiculous. Piped pajamas happen to be my favorite. If you find some good pieces, hook a sister up!

Target has some SUPER cute PJ's right now...as in I want ever pair! Not exactly "lounge wear" but you should still go! haha I love all your picks...Anthropologie always has the cutest and coziest lounge wear!

Hmmm. Confession: I wear gi-normous drawstring pants from VS accompanied by equally gi-normous tshirts as my lounge wear. Hideous. I will be following the comments here to see what people come up with, cause I need some therapy too!

I own the J Crew pants (2nd slide)... and LOVE them. They were recommended by a friend and they are great. PS ~ I'm adding those same slippers to my Christmas wish list. :)

I have the solid grey J.Crew sweatshirt. So comfortable and cute- it can actually be dressed up pretty well. I saw Liz fom sequins & stripes rock it first and followed suit this week!

I have the saturday pant from jcrew and I love them, I always put them on after I am home for the day but before it is bedtime. I also like the line hard tail from Nordys they are a little more "work out" but I use them for my lounging

Girl there is nothing wrong with your velour track suits!!! I love the J Crew knit pants you posted. You may want to check out J Jill too, online or in town center Mt. P to try them on. They have knit separates that you can mix and match. They're super comfy and well made. I'm obsessed with slippers. Those bad boys are going on my Christmas list!

The Loft and Old Navy both have great loungewear. The Loft even have a section on their site called Lounge.

I looove the Jcrew weekend pants, a couple of years ago I got some cute lounge cardigans from Loft ;)

I love Loft's lounge clothes!

I usually wear yoga pants and a cute top around the house. Nothing cute. I guess I rather spend my money on cute clothes to wear out.

Get the Saturday Pant from J.Crew. Best thing ever. Easy to wear to the store and not feel weird. They stretch a lot so beware when choosing a size.

There is a cute site called intimint.com. I haven't ordered anything yet, I am waiting for a good sale. And target has great choices! Blair waldorf also inspired me last year to get attractive sleepwear

I love Gap Body and LOFT -- comfortable but cute enough to wear out of the house.

I just bought vs Pink sweatsirt and paints. They are very comfy. I'm pretty sure there is an age limit for wearing them in public though. I think it's around 21!

Unfortunately I have your opposite problem - it's hard to get me out of loungewear. My hubby even threw away my Ugg-wannabe slippers because he said they were gross. Truth - they really were, but my toes are always cold. Old Navy has great, loose drawing pants that I sometimes sleep in, and I got some great Columbia capri pants that are cropped with cuffs around the bottom so they don't hang. I love the Anthropologie leggings you picked out on here. Good day!

LOFT and Gap Body have great lounge wear - both are comfy and affordable.

In the afternoons around the house I live in leggings, oversized shirts/sweaters and my fake ugg slippers from Taget. If I have to go out I just throw on some flats or boots and I'm ready if the world has to see me!

I am totally with you! I have 3 velour outfits I just LOVE but I know I need to be a little more stylish! I hate spending money on items like that, but I'm going to add lounge wear to my Christmas list! I rarely comment on your blog, but I enjoy reading it! We are alike in a lot of ways.... 12 hours after my C-section this momma was showered and had make-up on!:)

I love Gap Body, Lululemon and Jcrew for lounge wear. Love the anthro pants, I may have to order those. I bought the Jcrew blouse yesterday...even better in person. So gorgeous! Also got this cute long sleeve tee for lounging:

I am the same way especially since I don't get "dressed" for the day before I take the kids to school. But I never wanted to be one of those moms that wears her pj's in the car. I still want to look cute bc even though I drop my son off, I still have to walk my daughter into preschool. I love Gap Pure. I have a couple of the tunics and leggings and they are great to throw on in the morning with flats and on the weekends to run around to all the kids activities. Like the other ladies that have commented I love JCrew and Loft as well. I need to check out Anthropologie lounge wear. I also need to invest in cute PJ's to put on before bed. I usually sleep in my lounge clothes which drives my husband crazy! Ha!!

Lulu Lemon has some really cute loungewear. Also I like Gap Body. Oddly enough, I can usually find some cute loungewear at Nordstrom Rack or Loehman's. I check in the workout clothes and the lingerie/pj sections. Always worth a look because I hate spending $$$ on stuff that I''m really only going to wear around the house.

When "lounging" around the house, I usually go with a pair of leggings (Splendid heavyweight ones from Shopbop are great), a white ribbed tank or white JCrew vintage tee and a long cardi (my new fav is the Gap cocoon cardigan). I think Gap Body and JCrew have some great lounging options.

last year I bought the warmest softest leggings from lululemon. I live in those this time of year and my super cute monogrammed hooded sweatshirt from http://hollygodesignco.com/. you pick the thread and sweatshirt color!

Kohl's carries a Vera Wang line and I have eyed several cute pieces there over the past 2 years. I am dysfunctional when it comes to being able to put cute lounge clothes together so I typically hang out in pj pants and a circa 1999 tee shirt. Trying to change that habit--I'm sure the Hubs would appreciate it!

As a stay at home mom I swear by Lululemon (and sometimes Gap Fit) can wear it to the gym, running errands, to playdates, and with a quick touch up and a new blouse I can usually take it straight to a quick happy hour with my girlfriends or a casual dinner with my hubby and our daughter! I also really like some of the Michael Stars tops on Piperlime right now and I have several of the monogrammed sweatshirts someone mentioned above. I'm a California girl so comfy coastal casual is the name of my game!

One word: LuLuLemon!!!!

They have more than workout/yoga clothes. LuLuLemon seriously has the cutest and most comfortable lounging clothes out there. Something about their fabric is just such good quality and even though a lot of it is slouchy it looks CUTE, not frumpy.

I have just started to buy lounge clothes. I used to get dressed up and wear heels every day, before baby. Now? That hardly ever happens. I always fix my hair and put on makeup but dressing up chasing after a 16mos old just isnt happening for me right now. I found super cute lounge clothes at Gap. Great pants, and cute tops in great colors not just black and white. But I could still use more! Also JCrew has by far the best Tshirts. I go to the outlet and stock up.

Ann Taylor LOFT has a "lounge" line that is perfect for lounging around the house, but cute enough to run errands in. AND their prices are great. I just got these and loving them. Perfect with leggings (on sale too):

Check out HardTail yoga pants - I swear they're the most flattering lounge pants ever made! They're long lasting and reallllly comfortable. I'm not sure how tall you are, but they're a bit on the longer side, which works for me (I'm 5'8")
Cheers to cute lounge clothes!

I mostly wear my work out pants to lounge. That's because I never work out! Pathetic but true. ;-)

I love those Anthropologie pants with the ruffle. Adorable!

A friend of mine just received that Eberjey Gisele set at her lingerie shower for her wedding...they were sooooo super soft. She got a pretty blush/creme color. I love them and wish I could afford to spend that on jammies! I definitely recommend, you'll love how they feel!

I have those Anthro leggings...but I wear them as leggings..like with boots and a tunic. And I have the UGG slippers too...SOOO comfy!! They're a must!

PS..how the eff do you write UNDER that app from rsyle? I swear I wrote a whole paragraph-part of which was a shout out to check out your anniversary sale pick-but I could NOT figure it out for the life of me, so I just gave up! HELP!

LOFT Lounge. Sometimes it's hit or miss, but I've been able to get a few great staples over the past couple of years. Great leggings, comfy sweaters & shirts... And they're relatively cheap. Plus, LOFT is having a 40% off EVERYTHING right now with the promo code "FRIENDS". Check it out if you can!

I am right there with you - I can't leave the house without makeup on, unless I'm going for a run. Husband makes so much fun of me! But I love J.Crew's sweatshirts - you can usually get them on really good sale online or at the outlet. They get my vote!

JUST had conversation with Chris this weekend in Disney. I have been sleeping in t-shirts and HIS boxer shorts for 11years now. He waits until this weekend to say, "when are you going to buy YOUR OWN sleepwear!?" I cannot get it off my mind bc he NEVER has seemed to care in the past! So, thank you for this post! I am also clueless as to what to buy ;-). Thanks girlie!

I still rock the Juicy velour pants as well - they are so comfy ha! Have you ever heard of CAbi? An EX designer for Nordstrom, she started her own company. I just bought the most adorable lounge pants and tank from her line and they can be dressed up OR down. Great quality stuff, not cheap, but not outrageous either!

Here are the pants: http://www.cabionline.com/collection/clothes/fleck-pant/

Tank:

lounge clothes are tough! I have purchased some of my favorite lounge pants from Target. They don't look like PJ"s and you could walk out the door with them on...if you needed to. Just don't wear those Ugg slippers outside of the house. Strangely enough, I have seen SO many people wear these as shoes!!!

amanda said...

You should check out Gap Body. They have some super comfy clothes and all their stuff is really soft too!

Girl, you and me are cut from the same cloth...I practically *CAN'T* stay casual...I'm totally on board with it being a sickness! I've been a lover of those J Crew Weekend pants for awhile now, but somehow I always buy a blouse or jewelry instead. Sickness, I say!

I would live in lounge wear if I could. Truth be told my home "lounge" wear is very embarrassing. Think old tshirts, sweats - basically if someone comes to the door I run and hide and tell my husband to get it.

All of the clothes you picked are perfect! They are comfortable but still look planned/put together.

I love victoria secret yoga leggings and pants- they come in tall/long so they work for us tall girls. They are super comfy. I have some jcrew lounge wear but I bought the tall and they shrunk right away so I couldn't wear them out of the house. I also buy boy's large or men's small white v-neck tshirts and those are my lounge tees

I own the j.crew drawstring pants and I love them! I also have been known to wear them out of the house because they are so cute.
