My Favorite Drug Store Buys

I thought it would be fun today to share my favorite drugstore buys. I always love finding cheap products that work well and these are tried and true favorites of mine.

The best cream ever.  I use this for my body lotion everyday and slather it on my face at night.  It is so moisturizing.

Been using this for years and swear by it.  On Good Morning America recently they ran a segment comparing it to expensive mascara brands and it got better reviews than the pricey ones.  I use the blackest black and rock it everyday.

This is some of the best exfoliating face scrub around.  It smells heavenly and works so well.  I keep it in my shower and use it once 2-3 times a week.  Works great with your Clarisonic.

This is my latest obsession.  Love this stuff.  The Pink Truffle Color is my favorite but I also have Peach Parfait.  It stays on well and leaves your lips feeling moisturized, plus the colors are great.

I know alot of you peeps swear by expensive hairdryers but I swear this one works just as well.  I used to own the expensive Super Solano one and when it broke I bought this one as a quick replacement til I could save for a new Solano.  I ended up loving it and I am still using it.  It gets super hot which I love and has the removable nozzle which I also love.  A great hairdryer for cheap.

I promise this stuff works just as well as the expensive oil.  It smells great and leaves my hair super sleek.

I love this deep conditioner.  I use it once a week or so and it works wonders on my dry over processed hair and it smells amazing too.

I hate the taste of regular toothpaste,  it makes me want to barf but I love Toms.  It has a fresh taste that is not too over powering.  Plus it is natural with no artificial additives.  I also love their mouthwash.
I love to buy this stuff in the big jar.  I use it at night alot as an undereye cream and sometimes if my face is really dry I slather it on my whole face.  It is also great for cracked heels and chapped lips.  Plastic surgeons swear by this stuff after facial surgeries so you know it is good for your face.

{Essie Nailpolish}
Essie has quickly become my favorite brand of nail polish.  My favorite colors right now are Geranium, Ballet Slippers, Enuf is Enuf, Watermelon,  and Wicked.

Tell me, what are your favorite items to buy at the Drugstore?   I need to know!

Okay, I would buy aquafor tubs by the crate if I could. Our whole house slathers it on. Poor Tagg gets it three times a day and it's helping his eczema better than his prescription cream. And it's amazing on diaper rash. I've never thought to put it on my face. That's such a great idea. Do you put it on at night or just after a shower?

And I finally joined the drugstore mascara train. So much more satisfying when it costs $8 instead of $34

I'm with you on the Cetaphil. My skin is sometimes too oily for the cream but I use the facewash in the winter (I buy the big jug). CVS also carries a shower gel/bath gel called Skin Milk, in a white bottle. It smells like a mix of clean laundry and summer and it's so moisturizing. Love it! Glad you are feeling better friend! xo

Fun post! I love products! I just bought some of the revlon 24hr lipstick but it's so drying (though it claimed not to be like the others). I need to try the lip butter!

Great post! Im defiantly a product junkie, and if I can get a few things on the cheap that I love thats a huge plus. My list is very comparable to yours. LOVE 3min. miracle. After I read Jennifer Aniston loved it (figure she can buy whatever the hell she wants, must be fab) it was a must try. Now that along with Cetaphil face wash, st. Ives scrub, and I like the St. Ives body lotion (the one for skin elasticity). I also keep sugar in a jar in my drawer to add to my favorite cleansers for a quick deep exfoliate. Thanks for sharing!

Add Vitamin E cream to this mix. Trust me. It is the best moisturizer you can find. Now, the only place you can buy the "Fruit of the Earth" kind is Walmart. They come in two tubs together for like $3.00. It is the best $3.00 you will ever spend. Trust me.

I love those Revlon Lip Butter's too! You have to try St. Ives Timeless Skin face cream. Dr. Oz featured it as being better than expensive anti-aging creams and at $4 for a big container, you can't beat it! It has a light, fresh smell-perfect night cream!

I am a huge fan of Cetaphil and Aquaphor. Cerave is another good lotion that my dermatologist friend uses religiously.

I use Neutrogena Deep Recovery Hair Mask as a deep conditioner once a week. It makes my hair SO soft.

This is such a fun post! I love the drugstore -- seriously have had dreams of winning a drugstore shopping spree. Pathetic ...

I use several of these products and would add Burt's Bees Cuticle cream. Smells so good and really works well on dry cuticles.

I've heard good things about Cetaphil -- I need to give it a try!
My go-to drugstore item is Aveeno Stress Relief body wash/lotion. Love the scent!

Oooh! I love this post! I use a lot of the same products that you do. I still love my mascara by Stila though. I used to use Mabelline but I just don't get the same results?

I need to try the Eucerin ointment. I have the body lotion.

I love the Loreal Sulfate Free shampoos and conditioners. I think they are like salon quality!

I also dye my own roots with Loreal box color. It only lasts for a couple weeks but it gets me by until my next salon appointment and helps keep that cost down.

Believe that I have 5 of those things in stock at my house! We have similar taste! www.styleoyster.blogspot.com

I always have a mini thing of aquaphor with me at all times. It's amazing for dry skin and chapped lips! Essie is my favorite nailpolish too. One of my favorite colors is No Boundaries!

Cetaphil has been my go-to for years. Every now and again I'll think I need a more expensive face cream so I'll try something, wind up hating it, and go back to my good old Cetaphil. I think it's the perfect face and body cream for a sensitive-skinned gal like me. Just noticed Whole Foods makes a version too...think I will give that a shot when my current bottle runs out.

I love Aquaphor on my lips. I also buy the $3 vitamin E oil at Trader Joe's & put it on my face either before make up (let it soak in) or as a pick me up later in the day. It looks and feels amazing!

MUST buy the lip butter! i loveeeeeee rimmel's scandaleyes mascara. it's my fave and comparable to MAC's plush lash that i used to be obsessed with. i also love neutrogena's grapefruit wash and scrub.

Maybelline Great Lash has been my go to mascara for years now. Thanks for sharing your favorite hair dryer too. I've been looking for a new one but just can't bring myself to spend a lot of money on it. My current favorite drug store find is Jergen's Natural Glow lotion. It gives my skin a hint of color which is much needed during the long Winter!

love Neutrogena Micromist Tanning Spray...Color is great and goes on super even

Michaela said...

Okay...need those lipsticks right now. I'm obsessed with lip color recently and haven't tried these yet! You always show off the best products!

Loving this list! I need to get Aquafor for the baby...I've heard it works miracles. Also love the lip butters! I'll have to check out some of the other items on your list!

Aquaphor and that St Ives scrub have been my go-tos forever! Love them!

Unknown said...

I love Aquaphor! Years ago my dermatologist recommended I use A&D Ointment instead of Chapstick for my dry lips. Use it nightly before you go to bed or during the day (if you don't mind the smell) and your dry lips will disappear! However your hubs might not want to kiss you after you put it on bc it smells like a baby's bottom:) I also use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask weekly. Essie polish - Ballet Slipper for hands and Sally Hansen - Commander In Chic for toes. I have used them both for years and am always getting compliments on my toe color.

My new favorite self tanner is Jergens natural glow express, this stuff works AMAZING. You will see a difference in 1 day! I also swear by the Garnier BB Cream, I have turned many on to it and they love it :)

Love this list! My additions would be:
1. Aveeno Baby Cream Wash- used this for my baby's eczema and it left her skin so amazing I had to try it myself.
2. Vaseline as a good ole fashioned eye makeup remover. My mom told me about it in high school and I have used it ever since. I swear it is the reason I do not have wrinkles around my eyes yet.
3. Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I used Elizabeth Arden concealer for years until they redesigned the formula. I grabbed this as a quick replacement and have loved it!

I love the Green Tea Scrub from St. Ives! It is sometimes hard to find, but totally worth buying if you come across it. It has a much finer grain that the Apricot Scrub and leaves your skin so soft. I also love the Maybelline Falsies and Illegal Lengths mascaras; they are just as good and the designer brands.

I haven't tried this but I hear olive oil is the best eye makeup remover and so moisturizing. I also love those lip butters and I heard they were being discontinued. :(

Great products, love the post! A few of my drug store favorites are Carmex and Jergens Ultra Moisturizing, don't know what I'd do without it!

I love the lip butter in Pink Truffle, too! I am a dental hygienist so I have to comment on the Tom's. Please know it is fluoride free. I know lots of people are going for that. I had a patient last week that had a history of cancer so she went as additive free as possible. I totally get that! But long story short she had developed a HUGE cavity that may need a root canal or be unfixable. THis happened fast. She does not eat sugary foods and the only thing she had changed was dropping fluoride. You may want to consider Melaleuca...I think they have a fluoride tp, mild flavor and it's otherwise additive free.

Been doing my own shellac manicures with Nailene's Sensationail. It lasts as long as a $35 salon shellac mani and the whole kit was $50.

I love aquafor too. I desperately wish that St. Ives still made their jojoba conditioner, it was awesome.

I can't wait to try the Revlon Lip Butters! I love vanicream products as they are paraban free and my daughter who has sensitive skin can share this product with me. I also, use the vanicream facial bar! Best face soap and my Derm recommended me $3.
I also love the aquafor cream!

Love Cetaphil, too! I am OBSESSED with Loreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara (only the red/white tube).

My derm also recommended aquafor for eyes at night.

Oil of Olay regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum is something I swear by. Goes on light and silky (even under moisturizer).

Have you ever checked out beautypedia.com? They rank all beauty products depending on whether or not they live up to what they claim to do. I love it!

I have that hairdryer- same story happened to me I had a T3 that broke so I bought that as a quick fix and have had it for over 2 years now! I LOVE aquaphor in the winter- its a major dry skin cure and I can't get enough Essie nailpolish. I always pick it up when I'm in Target

LOVE this post! A few additions:

1. Johnson and Johnson No More Tears Baby Shampoo--smells heavenly!
2. Almay oil-free eye makeup remover pads.
3. Mr. Bubble bath bubbles...a true classic and sooo yummy. It's under $4 for a huge bottle and doesn't irritiate the skin.
4. L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick in Sunset Angora. Really light, buttery texture and the color is fab on everyone.
5. Essie polishes are the best! Adding the colors Clam Bake (a great fruit punch red slightly more orange than Geranium), Forever Yummy (a winter red), and Mademoiselle (very sheer pale pink) to the list. :)

I Love Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color - whenever I do my own nails, I can never sit still long enough for them to dry. SH Insta-Dri is amazing and dries so quickly, plus, there's a good assortment of colors!

Oil of Olay Moisturizer with sunscreen. I have been wearing it since I was a teenager, and it's the only thing that doesn't make me break out. Trust me, it's awesome. My dermatologist even recommends it. And Gold Bond moisturizer (for your hands). The best, smells great and is just amazing.

i am a new follower, thanks to some friends (who aren't even bloggers) sharing your blog with me! i love your drug store buys posts... essie polish is my favorite, and i need to try that morrocan oil... the kind i have is squirt out, and i always seem to use too much so i think a spray bottle would be great!

I can't wait to try some of these and reader's recommendations! Here are my faves:
-Organix shampoo/conditioner-have tried several of them and love them all, especially any of the pink bottles
-St. Ives face cream that's always pinned on Pinterest, it's in a big white and purple tub, $4 at Walmart, amazing-love it even more than my good ole Cetaphil I've used for years

Do you have any eye bases you like? I use Trish McEvoy eye base in Demere everyday as a shadow but it's so expensive and doesn't go very far, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Love Burt's Bees lip balm (tinted) - I think it's new. And, well, live by Aquaphor (as does my toddler). Oh and I think someone said the Burt's Bee's cuticle cream. LOVE the smell of lemon.

Cetaphil face wash!!! It's amazing and doesn't dry your face out!! I swear by it.
Also, for a clarifying shampoo I use Suave's Rosemary Mint. It smells really good and my hair feels very clean afterwards.
Finally, L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara. LOVE. IT.
It doesn't get clumpy and makes your eyelashes look beautiful, long, and full.

I use the Cetaphil and Aquafor too! It is working so much better then the expensive creams and ointments I have purchased. Loving my new Conair dryer and Essie is always my go to for polish. I want to try the Revlon lip colors now too!

i use the cetaphil cleanser religiously. i have tried other things, but always go back. i ordered the moisturizer because of this post. i have been using an expensive cream i was hypnotized into buying at sephora but it is almost gone, so i was looking for something different.
i also could not live without the suave dry shampoo, and i have tried almost every brand out there. it is by far the best for the money.
i've heard using olive oil as an eyemakeup remover also helps your lashes grow. you have convinced me to start using it! love your product reviews!
