Rompers + Popsicles

Lets chat about rompers.  Ever since seeing Gwyneth in this romper on Goop I have wanted a romper.

Then I saw her in this DVF romper which made me really want it.  Sadly,  this little DVF number is out of my price range and from 2011.  So unless it shows up on Ebay for cheap this one ain't happening.

I was in Forever 21 the other day doing a quick walk thru and I spotted a romper for cheap, $14 to be exact.  I tried it on and actually quite liked it.  I have never owned a romper or thought myself to be cool enough to sport a romper.   I am not going to wear this out clubbing (not that I ever go clubbing anymore) but I thought it was cute for running errands and for the pool/ beach.  Rompers are kind of weird and going to the bathroom may be pain, but I think it is a fun casual look.   For $14 I figured if it was only used a beach cover up, no big deal.  But it keeps haunting me that maybe Rompers are stupid and I am too old to sport this look. Here is the question is 30+ too old to wear a romper?  Be honest.

I have seen Kourtney Kardashian and Jessica Alba sporting cute rompers and they both are moms and over 30, which leads me to believe maybe I can rock this look without looking like I am trying to be 21.

Thoughts?  Is a romper best left for a 20 something?  Or can a mom rock it for casual wear?
I could not find my romper online at F21 but I did find this super cute one:

Now on to my next random thought, Popsicles.  I never bought the Zoku, the pop maker from Williams-Sonoma, I just wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money ( I can be cheap about some things).  Well my mom found me one at Homegoods for $6.99!  It works perfectly.  I made extra juice from my juicer this week,  froze it and shocker, Sterling ate the whole Popsicle.  Yep, he ate spinach and kale.  I was a happy mom since he normally never touches the green stuff.
I made two different pops:
1) kale, spinach, apple, lime and cucumber
2) orange and carrot

The next day he requested two pops "orange and green"
Popsicle maker = genius way to get your kids to eat veggies.
And for the grown-ups, I see these Margarita and Strawberry Peach Vodka Pops being made in the near future.  Who said Popsicles are just for kids?

Wow! I have the zoku and it was most certainly not 6.99! Major score on getting Sterling to eat veggies! Maybe I should try this with Wells!

First. You are totally ROCKING a romper. No doubt. Go for it! Your babe is so cute. Love that putting healthy things in ice cream form tricks them. Oh well!

Love the pop made with green veggies. My daughter might actually go for that! I think the F21 romper you tried is really cute. You can definitely rock it well, and if you added a fun little jacket or blazer it would give it another look entirely.

I love my romper!! I like yours too, mine is also navy and I think that helps contribute to the "mature" look. I would probably not wear it with heels (a la Kourtney), but wear it with casual sandals. I think you could rock it with your havianas for errands, pool, beach, casual lunches or play dates for sure! They're nice b/c like dresses you put on one thing and you're dressed :) $6.99 is def. in my price range for a new gadget in the kitchen- I think Trey would be delighted with a jack and coke popsicle this summer :) XO

Have a dress romper that I wear all of the time, and the I have a more boogie short romper I wear as a cover up..... I am loving all of the trends with them! Xo

are you kidding, you can definitely rock the romper. I have one too and I love it:)

I have the zoku and it is a pain, you have to prefreeze the center so whenever we want popsicles I cant just pop them in the freezer, I have to pop in just the center, wait 24 hrs then make the popsicles

I am on the fence on rompers myself. There long sleeved black one at DKNY right now that looks a lot like Gwyneth's DVF. I saw it in the window and went in for it thinking it was a short dress, but I couldn't do the romper.

I love rompers! They are perfect for errands and weekends when you need more mobility than a skirt!

You look great in that romper and I can also see you sporting it with some heels and maybe a blazer (or just a fab necklace) to go out to dinner! I need a Popsicle maker for this summer - for me and the kids!!

You look adorable in the romper, I say rock it with confidence!

Sorry but rompers might be for college girls! Everything else you wear or model is just great.

You look adorable! Seriously, you look amazing. :) Also, yay for popsicle veggies!

Love the romper! Cute for a bbq or running errands in the super hot weather. I have two more casual rompers that are great for the pool when you don't want to be in your bathing suit right away. Ikea has popsicle molds also. Not as cool as the star shape though! I thought about freezing fruit baby food for my daughter this summer when it is super hot.

You look great in that romper! Go for it!!

HI! Your blog is just great! Rompers work if you keep them simple & classy since the outfit itself is trendy...which you did! Thanks for this great idea for popsicles! I will try with my 2 yr. old.

You are totally rocking that romper so you should just go for it!!

Ok the romper you had on from F21 is adorable and you can completely pull that off! I think the peacock is a little on the young side. Also, I need to invest in some sort of popsicle maker, the perfect treat when working from home!

I have a romper and I'm 43!! But it's army green and kinda boring so I think it works. I love that one on you!

I'm dying over Sterling's hair. He's got the cutest curls!

I want one of those "adult" Popsicles like now.

Hi! I am a new reader and just thought i would give my opinion :) You are so rockin that romper! If I looked like you, I'd wear it too and I am mommy to a 10 month old boy and am in my thirties (it hurts to say it). I can see how it may be a pain to go to the bathroom in though.

I so need that popcicle maker! That is a great Homegoods score. I love Williams Sonoma but I too can be cheap on some things.

I have a few Rompers and love them to death. You look fantastic in one, so much, I'm trying not to hate you. :)

We are addicted to homemade Popsicles, I'll have to try to sneak in some kale, haven't been bold enough yet.

I think you look great! I think as long as a person looks good in what they are wearing, like sizing and fitting, age doesn't matter! Sterling is such a cutie!

Carter (The Mean Mom Chronicles) said...

Keep the romper. Even if you just end up wearing it for weekends, it's a fun piece. And seriously, I just spend $14 on lunch out for my 3-year-old and me, so at that price, it's a steal!

Courtana said...

Even with as cute as you are, I just can't dig the romper. Sorry :(

I'm 37 and I feel too old too old for the romper but if I were early 30's like you I'd go for it. I need to go to Homegoods!

Some rompers are just plain ugly (but really, isn't there an ugly version of *everything*???)...but all the ones you showed are darling! You look fantastic my dear, don't let anyone tell you different (c:

You look HOT HOT HOT! I haven't even considered a romper but you've just convinced me! I'm going to get one. Maybe. If I build up the courage ;)

I always feel anxious about actually stepping out the door in a romper, but they are so comfortable and easy, I instantly forget any reservations I had and go with it! You look fab and should rock one too!

Megan said...

You look great in that romper! I wouldn't base the trend on age but body type, not everyone could rock the look!!

What a great way to get kiddos to eat healthy!! I'll have to remember this in the future!! :)

I did a whole post last summer called To Romp or Not to Romp? I love 'em and definitely think you can still get by wearing them, especially if paired with a cardigan!!
