Thoughts For Friday

TGIF.  Happy Weekend.  This has been a long week since my sweets has been sick but he is on the mend!  We have a Halloween playgroup party this afternoon that my little Spiderman is so excited to attend.  No other big weekend plans other than hanging with my sister and enjoying some quality family time.

Sterling's big boy is almost done.  I know I keep teasing you but I don't want to show pictures of the whole room til it is complete.  I am anal like that.  Here is our newest addition for his bed.  I used a local company called O'Connor for the monogramming and they did the best job ever!

The last thing I want for Sterling's room is a cool light fixture. I really, really want a Sputnik.  How cool would that look in a kids room?  I am on the search for a decent priced one.

I finally tested out the top knot this week.  I thought I looked cute but Sterling's exact words were "Mama why is there a pumpkin on your head? "  Top Knot Major Fail.  May not do it again.  Plus my hair is so fine and thin I felt like it looked stupid.

Looking for a cute shift dress?  Check out these ones at Old Navy.  I swear Old Navy has really stepped up their game lately.  The first pattern really reminds me of a DVF pattern.  Such a steal.

I just picked up the book Wild From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail .  I had read several great reviews (my bestie Oprah recommended it, so it must be good) about it and was interested to see if it was good.  It is different from what I typically read but I am really enjoying it.  I am halfway through and keep wanting to read more.  It is very well written, I highly recommend.

I have totally been into the show The New Normal.  Anyone else watching?  It is a cute sitcom and I love the two guys that play the gay couple.  Also it has made me come around and like Miss Nene again.  Check it out its pretty funny.

Matt and I have had a few tiffs this week.  Ever have weeks where you just argue about stupid little things often? It was that kind of week for us.  Had to include this ecard because it is so true.

And because Matt tells me I complain too much and it is something I am truly working on, this quote really resonated with me.

Have a glorious weekend my sweet friends!
xoxo

GIRL, so much here! First, that quote is one that has become my new mantra. I've had a really crappy time lately. Instead of complaining and hating my life I'm just making a conscious effort to be grateful for it. It's CRAZY how this positive attitude can change your life. Try it, you'll be happier, so much happier. It's working for me! Well, that and the kids are sleeping again so that makes everything more bearable. Also, love the monogram. Can't wait to see Sterling's room!!! I love pretty much any show on ABC. Did you watch the premier of Nashville yet? This sounds turbo lame, but I did a bible study in PI based on the power of a praying wife. I'm not super religious at all but the premise is based on pyschology which i can get on board with. Basically, you have control over only yourself including the way you think about things. Next time you want to punch Matt in the face for not taking out the trash...again. Pray for him. Even if it's a prayer for him to get his shit together. It works! Love you and sad I'm missing Sterling in his costume. sounds adorable!

My Jackson also is spiderman, I didn't even think he knew who he was!
Where is the white euro sham from? Looking for 2 to complete his room.

GREAT post, Nat! Both quotes really resonate with me this a.m, and I LOVE the monogram for Sterling's big boy room. I think you should give the top knot another shot; looked pretty cute to me!

I agree that when I'm in a slump and complain and have negative thoughts, I keep moving farther and farther down in the dumps. However, I know that bottling things up and always "pretending" like everything is great isn't healthy either. Everyone needs to vent every once in a while. Maybe we just need to find the right person/people to vent to. I know that my hubs isn't always the best person to vent to about certain things either because it's a sensitive subject or just simply because he's a man and doesn't get it. Anyways, have a great weekend!

Must be something in the air. Rich and I had a fight this week and we never argue!! I ended up bawling at work. I was a hot mess.

Love the monogram pilllow- can't wait to see Sterling's big boy room! Love the New Normal- great new show. I can totally relate I had one of those weeks where I wanted to punch my husband in the face and I'm working so hard on not complaining but I swear it's easier to talk about the bad stuff instead of the good stuff

T.G.I.F for sure!!! I agree with Ms. Pawleys Island Posh...focus on the good. Being a SAHM is TOUGH! I constantly seem like I can't catch up on anything and then feel guilty because I feel that being a SAHM I probably should have time to do everything. Well its not the case & my husband doesn't understand that either. Frustrating. I have learned to not make my husband my "Girlfriend" he can not handle hearing or "dumping" my emotions on him all the time like I can to my girlfriends. This has helped me some, enjoy your weekend girly! Will be praying for ya! LOVE the pillow and the topknot is cute! You have a petite face so you can pull it off! : )

Loving the purple shift!

I hear you on the bickering with your husband! It has just been one of those weeks I guess, and I heard the same thing... "I complain too much" haha! Sometimes it's just the only thing to talk about!

Have a super weekend! :)

Fun post!! And can completely hear you on getting annoyed at the little things. You are brave to say so!! My problem is not so much complaining but thinking out loud about what I want to improve around the house or buy without it sounding like I need a trust fund! Ooops! ;)
CHEERS!! XOXO

I will trade you husbands for one night and you will appreciate Matt for sure :-). My husband does not do jack around the house "because I worked all day!" Um. So did I! His favorite item in our house is the remote control! Ugh! I know how you feel! We still have to love them even when they are a pain in our ass :-). I mean, what would we do without them! {just vomited in my mouth}. LOL

I love your top knot - SO CUTE! I just posted my '5 minute hairstyles' yesterday, and the top knot is one of them! Sterling's comment is SO cute - ha! Love it! Boys just don't understand ;). Here's a tip to making your top knot look 'fuller' - put it in a pony tail first, and tease the entire pony so your head looks like a hot mess, then carefully smooth it out (be sure not to comb out all of the teasing), THEN wrap it around and pin it. It will look so full and stays in place much better! :) Have a great weekend! xo

We all have those weeks don't we? So glad you like that show. I haven't watched it, but I will give it a try. I was just telling the hubby how disappointing most of the new shows have been. Thanks for sharing! And love Sterling's new pillow.

I love the old navy dresses...but I can't find them anywhere! Where they recent?

You can totally rock the topknot..it looked great!

Loved the top-knot...you can rock it! I find that my girls just don't like it when I do anything different to my hair because I don't look like "Mom" so try it again!!

I can't wait to see the big room reveal:)

Oh and I can't stand that show...it is sooo political to me and I get so tired of having the media try to paint people certain ways. I do, however, LOVE the New Girl...funny, cute, witty, and light:)
