Let's Talk About Foundation

Foundation.  It's tricky.  It can either make your skin look flawless and perfect or make your face look darker or lighter than the rest of your body.  Lets be real we have all seen women with super pale or tan faces as a result of their foundation. It is a bad look.  I do most of my make-up shopping at Nordstrom, they offer free shipping and returns and just make my life easy.  Plus they carry all the lines I love like Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Nars, Chanel, and Dior.

Personally, I like a combo of a liquid tint plus a powder for an even coverage.  For years I have used Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.  It works great, goes on smoothly and I love that it has SPF in it. It works fine but I have the itch to try something new.

I did a little research and asked around and these came up as top foundation recommendations:

I always love Bobbi Brown make-up and heard this duo is awesome.
I like that the powder provides full coverage and for me I find powders help cover my blemishes and lines better than a liquid.  I like that you can then apply the foundation stick as needed.
Right now at Nordstrom if you spend $50 on Bobbi Brown cosmetics you get a free mini foundation stick- so a great time to try it out!

The other three foundations I have heard amazing things about are:

makeup 2

I read in Allure that a lot of make-up artists to the stars swear by the Dior foundation.   It is supposed to be super light feeling with great coverage, plus it has SPF which is necessary in my opinion for daily wear.

I am never disappointed with Nars, I swear by their Laguna Bronzer, and Lipstick in Dolce Vita and Gypsy. So I have a feeling the foundation would be great plus their colors matches are pretty extensive.
The Laura Mercier Smooth Finish seems to have more pigment than the tinted moisturizer.

On a side note if you have not checked out the Nars nail polish collaboration with 3.1 Phillip Lim, you must!  The colors are gorgeous, I want them all.

What foundation do you swear by?  I would love to hear thoughts if you use any of the above that I am considering.

This post was sponsored by Nordstrom.  All thoughts and opinions are my own always.

Whatever you do, do not switch to the Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer. The Laura Mercier is seriously THE BEST! I also currently use her foundation as well. I like it. A lot. But I can definitely be swayed to switch...

DON'T USE THE BOBBI BROWN FOUNDATION! I will send you mine (for a cute girl outfit) hahaha. I HATE HATE HATE HATE it. I went for eyeliner and they were having an "event" and some guy talked me into all this shit and I seriously hate it. I was back at Laura Mercier within a month. I will seriously send you mine, i can take a pic of the color I got and that damn coverup palette. I'm a tomboy and should have never let the guy trick me but it was my birthday....i don't have time for all that....just squirt laura and rub that bitch on and life is good.

I love the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, I think it is the best one out there, but I tried the new Chanel foundation...it is AMAZING! It gives you more coverage, but feels so light! Can't say enough about it! :) It's awesome!!

I've been wearing Dior Forever foundation for years now and absolutely love it. It has the best coverage without looking heavy at all. I wore it on my wedding day so I know it photographs well too. I've never heard of the Dior Star foundation?

I just recently got the Bobbi Brown foundation stick and love it! I use Clinique still as my go to makeup.

I've tried SO many foundations (including chanel, bobbi brown, nars sheer glow, laura mercier) and I have to say my new favorite is the Bare Minerals BareSkin!! (new liquid kind) My skin has NEVER looked better! It's amazing - I've turned my whole family onto it. But you have to get the brush that goes with it - makes all the difference :)

I use the Laura Mercier foundation Primer (no color but smoothes out your skin tone AND has SPF!). And then I just use the Bobbi Brown foundation STICK as needed. I love the combo of both and have used them for years. I still get comments though, all the time, about how good my skin looks. Also, I then just dust my face all over with Bobbi Brown's shimmer brick and I'm set to go!! Can't go wrong with Laura and Bobbi!

LOVE Dior! It is my favorite and has been for years. I use the Dior AirFlash. Great coverage and is nice and light.

I just bought the Laura Mercier foundation last week at Nordstrom and absolutely love it! I've used the tinted moisturizer and the silk creme foundation in the past and the new Fluide foundation feels so much lighter - you can't even feel it on your skin! I'd high;y suggest giving it a try! I even posted about it on ym blog earlier this week because I'm so obsessed ;)

I'm dying to try the Makeup Forever HD foundation. It's supposed to be amazing! I have the finishing powder, and it's like velvet.

I just switched to the NARS tinted moisturizer and LOVE IT. I also really liked the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. Both are light with a decent amount of coverage and don't make your face feel caked full of make-up. I like to finish with the Laura Mercier loose powder. You can't go wrong with either.

Have you gone to Sephora lately? I went to the one in the Southpark mall-they scan your face and then it tells you which shades to try. I had a choice of a Clinique color and a Laura Mercier color; I bought the LM.

Great timing - I was just at Sephora a week or so ago looking for a new BB/CC cream. Happened to be picking up the AmorePacific moisturizing mask at the same time, and the product rep was there - she demo'd the color control cushion compact on me and it was true love! I'm wearing it every day and can't believe how great my skin looks - the product seems sheer but does so much. Could not be happier.

I love Dior's Air Flash foundation, I use it lightly on a daily basis, and then a bit heavier going out in the evenings. I have extremely sensitive skin and it hasn't had a negative reaction so far. Dior is hard to beat all around.

I love LM products, but I'm obsessed with the Armani Foundation line. I've used the luminous silk in the past and it is so light but makes your skin glow. And then I switched to their Maestro. It's even more light, but I've decided i need a bit more coverage and am switching back to the Luminous Silk. It feels amazing and makes your skin look fabulous.

I used to love Armani Liquid silk but they discontinued my color. Since then I have been using Laura Mercier. I have tried everything and always go back to it.

I swear by the NARS Tinted Moisturizer and YSL Touche Eclat foundation. I've tried them all and these two are my clear winners!

Just bought the new smooth finish Laura Mercier foundation and it is amazing!! I'm like you and always wore the tinted moisturizer. This new foundation gives a flawless look and a little more coverage. Perfect for a night out! Love it.

I swear by Bobbi Brown for the last 15 years and love the new stick!! So smooth! I like light coverage and the beauty of it is that you can layer on as much or as little as you need. I don't love their tinted moisturizer anymore. They changed the formula!
